| Quote ="DHM"No matter what happens in what's left of Lee Smith's career or how his life goes after he hangs up his boots he will always have that magical 80 minutes to look back on. He did everything right, and then some. The emotion in him after the match when he probably realised he'd made a huge mistake going to union was also there. He shouldn't care, we all make mistakes but not many put in a performance like he did that night.'"
That wasn't his last match in RL before his move was it?
But you're right....a marvelous memory epitomisd by Smith's MOM and that 40/20. Wasn't that also the game where Hall debuted on the right wing and scored that clever little kick ahead to score?

Hall had played about 20 games by that point in his Leeds career.
Lee Smith's final game was the 2009 final. One in which I thought he was just as good in. Never mind his two tries, his work rate especially in defence was brilliant and he shut down so much and provided some great kick chases and even put quite a decent hit on James Graham. Possibly better than his 2008 showing if you look closely at the little things and aspects.

Do you recall everything from memory...or do just have tons of Leeds info nestled away on your computer?

Even if Thaler lets it go we stopped their attack.

| Leeds v Cas:
Eddie "well I think it's over now"
Phil Clarke "what, Leeds' season?!"
Leeds v Cas:
Phil Clarke "I don't think Leeds will win another game this season"
Pre-Grand Final chat:
Phil Clarke "I think Wigan are a better team, play too much as a team, and are too fast and powerful for Leeds to handle. Wigan will win this and win comfortably"
2010 Grand Final Eliminator:
Phil Clarke "Perhaps the rugby Gods have punished him for his unsportsmanlike play" (on McGuire's injury)
...
Leeds win at Hudds on the hooter to steal the LLS from the Pies, Leeds beat Saints to reach the GF, Leeds win the GF and Danny McGuire wins the HS Trophy.
Phil Clarke is an utter tool and I bet he's proper gutted tonight. And I'm glad. The rugby Gods have done their work on him there haven't they?
Well done Leeds, a fantastic achievement.

| We are going on about the blatant knock-on to Leeds's second try. Déjà vu after what happened at Leeds when 2 of your tries should have been disallowed for blatant knock-ons - which were referred to the video ref! Be honest, you would have all been very annoyed if such an incident had resulted in a Wigan try. Seems like you have had the benefit of the doubt (not that there was much doubt - it was a definite knock-on) yet again from the VR!

Mcguire begins to lose the ball, then he propells it back with his thigh/knee. Wigan stopped, leeds played to the whistle. Ref referred it up as a try. No clear evidence to prove otherwise (one camera angle looks dodgy, other camera angle looks like it cleary goes back)......Fair try!
Wigan should have nailed it and shut the play down, but they all stopped. Powderpuff attempt on hardaker, no one else bothers to cover, stroll in for Moon.
Wigan can suck it, and suck it good.

We'd have been annoyed if that try was given against us, but whatever. In another incident, it was never a knock-on by McGuire after the Peacock offload that let Wigan back in it at the start of the second half.

I'd have been mored annoyed our players had stopped and assumed a knock on would be given.
As the saying goes, you make your own luck. Leeds never gave up on the play which meant it got referred and they then had a chance of the 50/50 going our way.

| In a lot of knock-ons that are given by referees, the ball actually ends up going backwards eventually. The ball moves forward from his hands. 90 -95% of the time the ref would blow up for a knock-on.
Leeds fans would have been equally annoyed if a similar incident had occurred with a Wigan player and the VR decision had been made in Wigan's favour.
I hope you are going to agree that you have had the benefit of any doubt more often than not in recent weeks with VR decisions.

I was annoyed that Wigan got 2 points from a penalty when McIlorum just threw the ball at Watkins trying to avoid being in the way. A sh*t tactic that McIlorum has tried before.

Fair enough if that was the case - on the field refs do make mistakes. And Leeds fans will no doubt quote the Wigan try from the DW game that Wigan won 26 - 24, that came after a blatant knock-on by Smith. That was an incorrect decision but could not be referred to the VR as it happened in back play.
The difference here is that the VR yet again came to a decision that the vast majority (90%?) would disagree with. This has happened a lot recently and, dare I say it, Leeds seem to have been the beneficiaries more often than not.

Where exactly? Thing is if that try had been disallowed there is still no way you can state that was the reason Wigan lost. Anything literally anything could have happened....you cannot state that might not have inspired Leeds to go onto an even greater winning margin. It was far too early in the game.
Let us Leeds fans enjoy our sweet victory and I suggest you take time to lick your wounds. Wigan are a young team and they will be there or thereabouts next season. (They should get rid of Smith though...but please keep Club if only for his comedy kicks )

| Very true what you say. Leeds have undoubtedly been the best team in SL 2015.
Also agree about Smith and have been saying this all year. And lots of fans on the Wigan forum are again saying SW has to give Rocky Hampshire a chance to form a half back partnership with Williams at SL level - they were excellent together from U16s -U19s.
