Id seen him at games this year but thought he’d gone entirely a year or two ago.

GH has been a very effective CEO of the Rhinos - he may not be the brain of Britain but he more than makes up for that with his street cunning and is belief in doing the right thing for the club and the game.

Has he got everything right - certainly not - but he has got more right than wrong.

Every great leader instinctively knows when its time to pass the baton on - it looks like GH has reached that point.

Hetherington is also a very, very astute judge of a Rugby League player which is why he's been able to operate as football manager and CEO for all these years - he knows RL inside out as a top flight head coach and understands the game in a way few other CEO's can.
It takes myopia of some degree to view him as anything other than a candidate for Leeds Hall of Fame if credit is ever given for people off the field.

True, but he's also majorly responsible for our current plight and squad featuring too many poor quality players. As with McDermott - if you want praise for the upside, then take criticism for the bad as well.

Hopefully not. Otherwise the last memories of him on the pitch could be of a punch drunk boxer who has gone too many rounds.

Less than one season. Retired in 95 was coming to us in a player coach capacity but doug laughton got the boot so bell went fulltime coach. Then played in first summer season

Anyone who watched John Holmes come back in 86-87 wouldn't want to see Sinfield come back. It was hard watching a player who's legs had gone try to go around again. That was after just one year away and he was 34 - Sinfield has been away for 3 years and will soon turn 38.

I know what you mean but I seem to remember John Holmes ripping Saints apart at Knowsley Road one sunny Sunday afternoon.
