| Here's one to make you smile. Pre super league possibly Boxing Day against Halifax i think. The pre match entertainment was a massive chopper over the ground and people absailing onto pitch. The blades and motors of choppers drowned out the PA system so no one knew what was happening, when they lowered the ropes from the chopper doors the airmen/soldiers rushed onto pitch to pull the ropes taught, about four to each rope nothing happened for a while and on the east terrace people began asking what the f**k was going on, so one bright spark shouted out I've no idea but they'll never pull that bugger down!! Genius

The amazing comeback was one of my favourite moments. The 2 things I remember was 1. the saints fans sarcastic applause after our 1st try. After the 2nd try the sarcastic applause stopped;the next 20 mins were very sweet and the Leeds fans had the last laugh. And 2, I remember in that match there was a tannoy announcement advertising early bird discount for next seasons season tickets just after we went 20- 0 down, which produced raucous laughter in the North stand.

| Can't remember the year but it was home against Bradford, when Lee smith had returned from yawnion, I think it was snowing/sleeting something rotten and him scoring either the winner or tied things up, everyone singing living in a smithy wonderland was pretty cool. But my favourite moment was before hand, some women wandering round the then destroyed pitch (as it always used to be early in the season) and a bloke behind us in the south stand screaming at her to get of the pitch with her high heels, I have never seen anyone so furious at something so pointless

Always like Wheldon Rd when its been raining and they are kind enough to put some bricks down like stepping stones across a lake.
One year they put some boards across them.

| Anyone remind me which year it was Sinfield scored a strange try against Bradford from dummy half, he did a 360 on the spot and scored from it. Something like that anyway remember it being a strange old try but never seen it back.

I always remember a JPS Trophy tie at Headingley in mid 80s v Wigan, which ended in a 10-4 win i think. In that game the brilliant Tony Currie took John Chicka Ferguson on the outside near South Stand and skinned him for pace. In the 2nd half Currie scored a belter to win it. That guy was some player but whenever i mention him very few people remember him.
'"
John Holmes made a superb half break, dummy then popped the ball inside for TC to go 60 metres with Ferguson chasing him.
Great comedy moment was my first trip away to Leigh when they played the circus clown music over the PA when the home team ran on.

It was in the league encounter at Headingley in 2010. It was also the two try Lee Smith returning from Wasps game where Leeds came back from 6-20 down to earn the draw with Andy Lynch (rather than Matt Orford) attempting a winning drop goal for Bradford- with Leeds replying in kind with that other well known drop goal exponent Jamie Jones-Buchanan.
If you search for Leeds V Bradford 01-04-10 on that video sharing website rhino vulcan has uploaded an highlight package.

They can call it "Macho, butch charge of the superhero hard men from planet Testosterone Overdose". It's still the music they play at the circus when the clowns come on.

I remember the "bar" under the stand. A small concrete room with some rusting old school chairs.
Still, could be worse. Remember the gents "toilet" at Swinton. It was a roofless brick walled enclosure, I went in and realised that's all it was. Four brick walls on the grass. No drains, just brick walls and pi$$ soaked grass.

Used to be someone on here going back to the rivals.net days who used the name only IIRC it was all one word back in the day.

| Tony Currie was a fantastic player at Leeds, another one who used to glide round the pitch. I've always found it strange that despite playing centre for the majority of his time at Leeds they chose to play him full back in a JPS Trophy Semi Final against Hull at Boothferry Park....that back fired as we lost 6-18 I believe, not that it was Currie's fault.
I was only young at the time but I'm sure he had 2 spells at Leeds, 1 when we had about 100 Aussie's in the squad, and the 2nd time being the year him and Cliffy Lyons helped us get to the CC Semi Final versus Hull KR. I seem to remember being in a panic as after the draw it was rumoured that both Currie, and Lyons were having to go back to Australia and wouldn't be able to play in the reply, although as it turned out it didn't matter at all.
I think we were looking to get him back for the 86-87 season too, but instead we got ET, I would have loved to see them both in the same team, as they were both my early Leeds heroes.

nor me. this is off the link Sgt Wilko provided:-
Overseas recruitment was similarly feted, with Leeds desperate to recruit a top line centre. Tony Currie was approached by Canterbury which scuppered a return for the previous year's 'Player of the Season'; Dean Bell looked like he would be coming back but the lure of Kiwi Graham Lowe's appointment at Wigan put a stop to that and terms were agreed with Peter Jackson until he was tempted from Brisbane Souths to Canberra.
In the end, once the 1986 Kangaroo squad was announced, Leeds got their man; bringing over young, Cronulla superstar Andrew Ettingshausen - who was to prove a revelation - followed by his team mate Mark McGaw, who were both omitted from the Green and Gold's.
which indeed implies Leeds did attempt to bring Currie back and ended up with ET, not a bad alternative.
I have to admit my own memories of this time are pretty vague as i had only just started out as a fan at 8 years old, my earliest memory being ET flying in for some wonderful tries that season

| Sorry I thought he was looking for someone to bite with his statement saying he wished he could have seen Cliffie and ET player together? ET and Cliffie obviously did play together for Leeds in 88/89.
When I re-read his post he was talking about Currie. My bad.
