| I say this after every final, and I agree with what has been said in this thread....if I want to have 6 or 8 pints before a match then I will do, but funilly enough I've never felt the urge to kick off and cause a nuisance of myself! Idiots are idiots whether they are drunk or not!

| Idiots are worse, and much more offensive when they are drunk.
Anyone who can't walk properly shouldn't be allowed in.
Anyone causing trouble once in the gorund should be kicked out and punished.
I'm not suggesting no one should be allowed a drink, I probably would ban it from the seats though

| I've attended a few union games at Headingley & Otley over last couple of seasons, and never seen the drunkenness I regular see at RL games.
Always been an enjoyable experience, and happy to take my kids along

| Key elements are that some coaches are allowing beer on which is against the law. meaning that coach loads are arriving already hammered at noon till 1pm, they are allowed into the ground due to the stadium not having any stewards outside by the turnstyle. Then they are allowed more booze because the hired help on the bars will not refuse service.

| From reading this thread, it would appear that some people unfortunately mysteriously attract trouble. For the past 6 seasons, both at Wembley and Old Trafford, I have never encountered any trouble or threatening behavior in my vicinity, and this is always sitting in the ends in the "cheap seats", usually with Leeds fans, who have conducted themselves well.
Are people just hypersensitive? This year, my and my party were sat in a similar location to others who have commented in this thread (Leeds end, top tier, corner on the tunnel side) and there was a bit of rowdyness towards the back with a few people spilling their ale but nothing all that offensive? I'm not sure what people are thinking when they personally challenge the people that are causing trouble as this will just stir things up 10 fold. Like some have said, tell a steward if you are that concerned. Last week at The Stoop a few Warrington supporters in the next block were getting a bit upset at several of us celebrating Broncos tries. As usual they were offering us out for a fight etc, best thing IMO to do is give them a smile and a wave, rather than telling them to be quiet.

| Having a neutral are would make no difference, I feel. Idiots are idiots all year round, not just when they've had a sip of Southern ale. In the neutral end, you'd still get rival fans sitting together and idiots would still create, albeit fewer as I feel that neutrals are there for the Rugby rather then a fight.
Ban all drinking on coaches for a start. I imagined many from Leeds/Warrington were ripping cans open at 7/8am on Saturday and boozed all day and probably till they were arrested or passed out.
Do what they do at Old Trafford and ban drinking in view of the pitch too, that stops the chucking of beer and stops people from boozing non-stop as it means they'll have to get up, get there beer then drink it out of sight of the pitch. I drink but a pint wouldn't get me out of my seat at the Cup Final.

Not illegal to drink on a coach. Football coaches yes but not any other. It robust "policing" at the turnstiles though. Nobody who is blathered at 230pm should be allowed in. Sadly though some see away games and big games as an excuse to get blathered. I fail to see how they enjoy the games or remember them. It's not all fans at all, but it's the few that can spoil it for some. I had a Wire fan next to me who was more like the village idiot constantly getting in my face and grabbing me when Wire scored. If I had wanted to or been inclined he may well have had a few problems to deal with. I am neither Leeds or Wire yet he felt the need to try and wind me up. I won't let it spoil my experience though and will be at Wembley twice next year.

| I have only just discovered this forum, after speaking to a really genuine Leeds fan before the game on Saturday, hence this being my first post.
I didn't come across any real trouble during my weekend stay (Friday - Sunday) and all of the fans I met whilst seeing the sites of London and before and after the game were all a great representation of the sport.
The only trouble I came across was on the way back to my hotel with my girlfriend when a fellow Warrington fan had a few to many and had a few unpolite words to say about Yorkshire. Consequently a group of around 10 Bradford fans were quick in telling the bloke where to go, but we're also quick to apologise when the situation was defused.
Overall I thought it was a great weekend, and has left my thoughts of leeds fans on a good note.

I dont wish to argue but show me the act and section. a designated sporting event is only football related. I stand to be corrected.

| I usually always sit near the halfway line to avoid the idiots (of all clubs) and sat next to 2 St. Helens fans at last years GF who i got on great with, the one exception when i sat at the Leeds end at the 2008 GF and i found myself sat behind 5 Hull FC fans who spent most of the first half shouting out to everyone around about how s**t Saints (1st place) and Leeds(2nd place) were, this coming from fans of a team who finished 11th that year.
Also once leaving Odsal after losing to Bradford in 2008 after some dubious video ref decisions saw a Leeds 'fan' screaming abuse at a Bradford fan saying they can only win by cheating and ref's were corrupt, i interrupted and reminded him of the Millenium Magic game the year before with Tansey's try and even though i was wearing a Leeds top he said i was ''a f**king cheat too''. It cheers me up after a defeat because it makes me realise things could be worst, i could be them.

No it doesn't. The Act refers to 'designated Football Matches.' RL, RU and Cricket are not included.
I had a wonderful weekend. I spent a couple of hours pre-match in a pub dominated by Leeds fans and there wasn't a hint of a problem. I then went into the stadium and watched the match with 4 Leeds fans to my left. Again all very good natured, even with handshakes all round post match. On Sunday afternoon I was in the V and A museum and got talking to a group of Loiners, in fact the only hint of a problem I nsaw all weekend was when a Leeds fan and his wife refused to sit near my wife and myself because we were from Warrington! A great weekend with everyone that I saw being a credit to RL.

| Fair enough. A lot of the people in the industry are wrong. The term 'designated sporting event' in the legislation is a loose one.

if you read it, its pretty much straight forward....football, football and more football
PART I
1. Association football matches in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference National Division, the Scottish Football League or Welsh Premier League, or represents a country or territory.
2. Association football matches in competition for the Football Association Cup (other than in a preliminary or qualifying round).
Article 2(3)
PART 2
Association football matches at a sports ground outside England and Wales in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference National division, the Scottish Football League or Welsh Premier League, or represents the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales.

| We arrived at around 11:00, had a stroll around Wembley way before heading to the pre-game party outside the premier inn and the only thing slightly antisocial we saw were two chavs stumbling about with Fosters boxes on their heads (we're did say later we wondered whether they'd got arrested or a crack off someone lol) so it seems we missed it all luckily
We always make a point of mixing with and chatting to fans of other clubs (what Rugby League is all about) and everyone we spoke to was a credit to the game so lets not judge the majority, the fact is in a crowd of 79 or so thousand you are gonna get a few idiots

| Got on really well with some Wire fans on the tube. Credit to their team. Some awful behaviour from Chavs with all colours of shirt on that I saw. Definitely a societal problem. Start by no drinking in the viewing arena. Then go from there.

| The thing is we dont really hear about this in the weekly rounds. Wembley finals are massive so naturally the scumbags and dregs of society suddenly pop up grab a ticket and claim to be fans. they've never watched RL in their life most probably. They just want to turn up and assume rugby has the same rivalry as football.
I love going to any town and having banter with the fans, I go near enough every game home and away. Not all your fans though. was having a great time with some of your lot on Wembley way. The future isn't all bleak. We just have to put up with the non descripts that come with finals.
(sorry I'm dragging this thread up again, not been on here since the final and felt like putting my opinion in )

| Leigh v Fax 2011 NRC final at Blackpool, how RL should be.
Pubs packed from 10am, all mixed. Great banter, great atmosphere, great session enjoyed by all together.
Post match, Fax lost it with the last play, Fax fans walked around the ground to meet the Leigh fans exiting after celebrating the win to .......................................................... shake hands and congratulate us.
The RL spirit is alive and well, good to see the positive post about Leigh fans in Trafalgar Square and hope you enjoyed your QF win at our place as well.
Scrotes will always be scrotes, RL fans should self police these minority in the old fashioned way.
