today's game looked like only one side had done any ball skills,where as the other side looked like it had spent its pre season thus far doing nothing more than fitness drills just in case the heavy rains come and the training ground got flooded again



no drama's yet as the season hasn't started,but if that had been round 1 of super league then i would have been really worried as we were crap

credit to wakey tho as they attacked really well and should have won by more,some cracking defence on show too

i think that brian macs comments were hugely disrespectful to all of the paying public
i wonder what gary hetherington thought to that comment of it being an "open training session"?

£18 are there no depths to which the club will stoop to take the Mickey out of its fans. I am unsure which is sadder - the fact the club can charge for such rubbish or fans who will happily pay for such rubbish.

If it was going to be a training session why didn't the club say so before the game and give the supporters the option?

i have the utmost respect for mac and will continue to do so,afterall he has been the most successful coach ever at the club

brian mac has never received the adulation of the fans when it was due when we won the trophies so how could he ever succeed when the side struggle?

i will however voice an opinionated but balanced view if needed and will not write his post mortem just yet,although a major squad rebuild will be required for the 2018 season
this seasons results will determine whether or not mac will be in charge beyond 2017

The result is worrying and the performance sounds crap. What really matters is how we perform in the league games. Plenty of our better missing so no cause for alarm just yet.

As for people spending money and being disappointed, surely the team Leeds had out was no worse than previous seasons. Its always been a chance for fringe players to have a game whilst the top players can relax over the Xmas period.

In seasons gone by our weak team was still enough to beat wakey, or cas before them, but maybe this shows how much weaker we are these days

Regarding McDermott, is it just to sack him if the squad he's been given is weak.

If a club of Leeds stature cannot get the next Trent Robinson from the NRL then something is seriously wrong. If this job became available Leeds would be inundated with potential suitors. The question is can the club spot the gem or will they appoint John Kerr or Mark Aston?

so there are undoubtedly better coaches out there, and they may be able to get more from the squad, you can't polish a turd, as Bennett showed over the autumn.

For what it's worth I think McDermott should have stepped aside / moves upstairs at some point. A team needs new ideas and to be taken out of their comfort zone ever so often.

The new coach coming in would need to be quality though, because he wouldn't have a great squad to work with

Arguably not, but only if McD hadn't had a key hand in building this (weak) squad. Agree that his post-match comments were poor, but he'll be given half a dozen matches in the season proper (at least) on the strength of his history at the club. After that, if we're bottom 3 (?) the view from the SS will be made fairly unequivocally.

Seriously? You could pick just about anybody who would do a better job than he is currently doing. Still think Toovey will be here by Easter.

Those are who I'd be looking at.

If this was 2015, I wouldn't be worried. After such a poor season in 2016 it would have been nice to see some green shoots of recovery, NOT one of the worst Boxing Day friendly results (and, by all accounts, performances) since the move to summer rugby.

Of course, there's not much point reading much into this. At worst it piles on more pressure on the coach and players, and has upset some fans who in all probability will buy season tickets anyway (even if I lived up north, the Boxing Day game long ceased to be worthwhile attending). It will be interesting to see how the other friendlies go, assuming there are some.

A decent amateur coach would have us playing to more of a game plan than this fraudster. Sacked by Easter? Fingers crossed.
