I'm all in favour of a statue to John Holmes - another all-time Leeds great - whose appearance record is unlikely ever to be bettered.
Bit it shouldn't & needn't be a case of either or, but rather why not both?
Possibly there should be an immortal for each generation, say a period covering 20 years:
Going back in time from now, Sinfield, then Holmes, then Lewis Jones & so on.
Not necessarily requiring statues of them all but rather recognition by the club in a more formal way of outstanding contributions to the club & the game as a whole.

Yes ,but this came about at the time of Holmes death about Seven years ago ,originally the club was going to include it in the new south stand ,but when that went out of the window indefinitely it was decided that it could go ahead by voluntary donations just like the one of Don Revie it was financed mainly by efforts of the fans.when it's announced shortly anyone can donate if they don't then fine

Well unlike a lot of other planning applications this lot impacts on three sets of existing residents and three different council wards, so I'd be surprised if someone doesn't put a spanner in the works at some point.

You're then reliant on the economy remaining buoyant enough to support the house building projects on the other two sites, interest rates staying low to encourage buyers etc.

Getting the work underway by this time next year might not be plain sailing, we've seen the delays involved in the new Cas ground as a result of not being able to sell land to raise the finance.

It depends what you mean by delays. The standard time for applications is within 8 weeks, but in reality that only really happens in simple, non-contentious applications. The list of statutory consultations required for the south stand & housing developments will be huge, with possible public hearings for the latter. If, what I have read, the housing is included in the Leeds housing strategy the principle might be a formality but the detail will take several months.
