| Said it before and will say it again, that Spence is not up to it. Even less ability than Sutcliffe. Good goal kicker shouldn’t mean a spot.

| Finished 30-26 to Hull. I can understand why so many within the game want a reserve grade after watching some of the games this season. It's a sub par standard. Although, at least introducing an U18s will perhaps put an end to some of physical mismatches you see in the comp at the moment.

| How would reserve grade work? 18s and then reserve team? Or 18s, 21s and reserve team?
Disappointed with that performance today tho young Iwan Stephen's had an excellent game and Joe Burton scored a nice try. Big effort last week and down to earth a bit today.
Owen Trout injured ankle.

Think McConnell goes far too much under the radar on here to be honest. Yes I see the odd big play from the likes of Mustapha, and Dupree, and others, but McConnell for me looks the best fit for super league. He doesn’t have that explosive speed and strength of Mustapha for example, but what he does have which is best for modern game, is consistency and stamina. He has great minutes in him, great hands, terrific work rate, doesn’t miss tackles. All the things that go un noticed.
I would like to see him and Mustspha given a game next week.
Stephens looked superb by the way. Both wingers looked an improvement on Briscoe for me.

| Complete joke of a performance from the ref, but even accounting for that, we were poor, attitude wasnt right from the start and it showed with the soft defence.
Thought the wingers were both good, Muizz was a handful.
Spence and o'connor the worst of the bunch for me.
Pretty frustrating game

| McConnell looks to be the most skillful forward in that team, really classy. He'll never make a first grade prop, but could see him making it as a 13.
Stephens and Joe Burton are exciting prospects, but Stephens would get eaten alive playing on the wing in first grade at the moment.

| I just cant see McConnell making it if I'm honest. Hes skilful and has ability but we will see.
Stephenw is a 1st year hes nowhere near ready for 1st team but he looks a proper player and a couple of years to build him up and he has a chance.
Muizz missed a bad tackle for winning try but that is unlike him amd he needs a chance. Corey Johnson needs a 1st team game too, hes looking stale to me and a call up could give him a boost. I would have him on the bench next week and rest Dwyer.

I said the very same today to Louis dad while watching the game. All the above you mention, finds his front more times than not and so much happens off the back of his carries and his hands at the line, nice to see a few telling offloads in there today too. I may have my bias but hes also got a great attitude, a nicer lad and family you'd struggle to meet.

| I really like him, but he does remind me a little of Tommy Gallagher from the mid 2000s. Still, the introduction of the reserve league is coming at the perfect time for him, as I don't think he's going to be ready for SL before he's 23.

My wife is mates with his mum and she's pretty much said that. His morale is low at the moment and he's waiting for that call up. I guess it's a balancing act but the cup game seems the perfect opportunity

I think so Damo. I'm a big Corey fan but he never gets loaned out when others do, never gets dual reg'd and is stuck in the 19s. He needs an opportunity now.
Parcell played well v KR got a chance to start on Fri and did bugger all again.
Give the kids a chance.

| If we don't play one or two kids next weekend against the Bulls then it's a huge waste of an opportunity. We're never going to win anything this year with the squad we have, so this opportunity gives us a chance to play with one or two kids who are on the fringe. I just hope he has the balls to go through with it and don't give a dam about the result. Let's see who can make the step up and who has the appetite to progress into the senior squad

Whilst I completely agree on the points made and the need to get Corey first team opportunity, it is definitely wrong to say Parcell did bugger all on a Friday mate.

| What did Parcell do? His distribution from dummy half was slow and inaccurate a lot of the time. He made a couple of decent scoots but no more.
He had the chance to claim a starting spot and totally failed to grasp it in my opinion. Really disappointing for an overseas player. He simply didnt do enough for me at all. Not alone in that I know.

Well he made just short of 50 tackles for a start with only 1 miss, you surely can’t ignore that. If his team mates could come half way close to that standard things would be so different. He also had a try assist.
It’s just like I said above about McConell, it appears the unnoticed important work gets ignored, for the odd moment of others. It can never be under estimated.

| You're becoming statto Gotcha. Could you tell me how many of the 50 he was 3rd man in? Or how many of those 50 he won the collisions in please?
Which try did he assist in also? Oledski was a 1 man barge through 3 or 4 men, Newman went from dummy half, far more effectively than Parcell did all night, and Handleys try was from a lovely kick from Cam Smith.

I’m no stato, I am just pointing out there is more to the game than one moment of wonder. You should know that. The important unnoticed work is of equal importance. In this particular case it is at least a damn site more than “bugger all”.

It all depends on your expectation of a player. Grafting is a minimum requirement for me for a Leeds player. It's something I expect from every player but that alone isnt good enough for Leeds. Believe me if I played for Leeds I would give my all but that doesn't mean I should be playing for the club.
Hard workers play for teams like Halifax, Fev, Widnes etc players at clubs like Leeds, Saints and Wigan should tackle players who run at them but should also offer quality in other areas. That's the difference. In your opinion a player like Donaldson is good enough for Leeds because you can say he made 24 tackles and only missed one. That's fine but to me that isn't enough, I expect that from all players as part of the job but what else does he bring?
Jsmes Roby makes 50 tackles every week but he also offers quality in other areas that's why he is a great player. He shoots out of the ruck at the right time, he delivers the ball at the right time to the right person, he kicks well and makes the right decisions.
Parcell was poor on Friday in my opinion. Several passes went above or behind the receiver. That's not acceptable to me for a Leeds number 9.
I expected Parcell, who wasn't the worst by any means to have done more to secure a starting spot going forward. I didnt see it. We can all hide behind numbers but his overall distribution his contact in collision and his impact offensively was not good enough.
I often said on here that Parcell is by far the best 9 at Leeds but he isn't doing enough to win the 9 shirt and Dwyer is rightly ahead of him st the moment and that needs to be questioned. If you cant see that you need to look again.
Did he do enough on Fri to take the starting 9 spot from Dwyer, absolutely 100% and emphatically not. Hes an overseas player and I, maybe wrongly, expect quality from those players.
Now if we are hiding behind stats I ask again which try did he assist in as I would love to know just to convince me these stats can be believed? Was it the Mikolaj, Newman or Handley try?

Now you are just moving goal posts. I am in agreement on the Parcell Dwyer argument, and that is also a change from me. That wasn’t The point though. You said he did “bugger all”, that was clearly and emphatically incorrect. You were ignoring important aspects of the game, and that was all I was pointing out.
Your comment on expecting more in other areas, I am not in anyway disagreeing with.

Would love to see Iwan Stephens in the halves. Kid can really play. Not sure it would work but I'd like to see it tried.

Pack was much stronger this week with Holroyd and Moorhouse back.
Muizz, Dupree, Johnson all very good. Stephens quality at back and I'm gonna praise our young centres who seem to do a good job, young TJ Barton and Joe Burton.
Pack won it tho. Could've been well clear in 1st half but Bulls goal line d was fantastic.

You'd think he's end up at 6 or 1. He's too good and too small for the wing.
