My memory of Tunks is him wearing a cravat at the side of Maurice Bamford. A strange contrast.

Scoring arguably the scruffiest try I think I've ever seen IIRC.

Wasn't that the game where Trevor Clark when to play the ball to himself right on their line (in the days when you still could) and it just popped up into Squire's hands at dummy half for him to barge over?

Correct and well described although perhaps it was more of a flop than a barge over. That try only equalised the scores and it took a calm as you like angled conversion by David Creasser to take Leeds through after an absorbing 160 minutes of toe to toe combat.

I still have them games on VHS.

Who scored Leeds other try in that replay against Northern?

He didn't score many for Leeds during his short stint at the club but that was an important one.

Ah, good times. Sadly I was stuck with my leg i a cast and in the seats as a temporary measure with the whatever-people-like-that-had-before-prawn-sandwiches-brigade, so had no view after they disappeared up the tunnel.

What I will mostly remember Steve Molloy for was having a mullet that, even in the days of RL players with mullets, was an absolute classic. Business up front, party time out back.

You just don't see any proper 'taches anymore either. Not ones some scruffy herbert has grown for "movember" but proper ones, like Dave Heron and Mike Kuiti had.

Gone are t'days.

After Mike Kuiti left Leeds he went to play for Maurice Bamford at Bramley, now THAT was a combination of 'taches.

Kuiti didn't take coaching advice of Maurice, he brought his own personal coach in the form of Mrs Kuiti, we used to stand behind the dugout at McLaren Field and so did she but when she was in top form we'd have to move away for fear of her bursting our eardrums.

Fond memories of the game vs Saints where Morley got sent off at the first scrum, probably in around 98/99 when I first started going down. I know we didn't win, but we made a real game of it

Dave Heron sans tache these days. It's appalling.

When it comes to taches, Dave Creaser,Cliff Lyons,Paul Dixon and Sam Backo are the players that spring to mind from when i started going down.However, things went into decline around about the time Bobbie Goulding walked in with his bum fluff effort!

Schoey always kept his well trimmed but Paul Harkin can be added to the list.

Did anyone attend a GB vs Rest of the world game at Headingley ? I seem to remember Sam Backo playing just after he signed for Leeds, so that would make it '88 or 89.

I went on a Whitbread promotion - Return coach travel from the local WMC, North Stand seat and a voucher for 2 pints of bitter. Total cost - £5

was in 99. Stayed well in the game for a good 60 minutes but then the extra man told. Chris smith (who was a cocky f*ck at the time) scored one of the game breaking tries from a pass that was, no exageration, about 5 yards forward, was right in line with it.

I think he'd just tackled Paul Davidson, got up and gave him a left hook.
From memory, Davidson attempted some of his usual 5h1thouse tactics to wind Morley up.

Russell Smith was the ref. He gave us nothing.

Wasn't it that Morley incident that prompted Stevo to comment something like 'He's been sent off for throwing the better punch!'?
