Totally agree the ball undoubtably changed direction due to a touch from Websters hand. Unfortunate for KR but a correct decision that the unbiased fan cannot bleat about

| Quote ="rumpelstiltskin"He certainly had a howler, and would also have been held to account if Webster's try had stood, but I'm not going to bin him over one poor game.
It's a very big ask to play in Super League, the potential is there, but for me I'll leave it to the end of the season to see how he develops.
He's definitely going to be on the receiving end of a few high bombs next Sunday
'"
Even good wingers have bad games - Brian Carney did. When Manu Vatuvei first started he stuggled with a log of high balls. In fact he got a rep of not been able to catch. Last season this rep stuck with him even though he was catching balls and then running at players. He was 'so bad' he got an end of season NRL award...best winger I think?

| Quote ="Matt23"Hall is usually solid and unspectacular. Last night he had abit of a mare, but he's also had some excellent games.
Donald is playing exactly like he did in his 1st season at the moment, IMHO it's fairly clear that he's a much, much better player on the left.
He's more comfortable scooting from the left, receiving the ball from his right (last season he would have grounded that no-try, IMO), finishing in the left hand corner (despite carrying the ball in his right hand). Also playing outside Keith doesn't do your game much harm.
Not knocking Donald here by the way, just don't think he hits the heights on the right hand side.'"
Totally agree..!! Why have we broken up a very succesful partnership on the left ?? It's not as though Hall didn't play on the right wing last season...He DID ???!!!

| The RHS was a real problem area for us last year. Bluey has recognised this. If we mute a little bit of attacking ability to shore up this side then I Can live with that.
Two tries in 3 games (both from kicks) means something is working.
The attacking fluidity (is that a word or I have just done a Stevo?) will come.

Not sure I buy that arguement. Some centres amy struggle either left or right, as their passing may be weaker that way, but if someone on the wing can't catch very well from one side you do have to wonder how they got to the level they are at.

The difference is though that most of our attacking comes down the left rather than the right. So its quite obvious that Donald is not going to be as effective on the right as he is on the left.

Depends how you look at it. Donald can be just as effective when utilised, but the team may be less effective

It made me laugh on Friday the way Stevo was arguing that it should have been given, but could not come up with a reason why, other than that at normal speed it looked a try.
Well at normal speed it didn't even look like he grounded it to me.

Maybe there was a large gust of wind at the exact time that websters other hand went near the ball

It's as clear as day that Websters left hand hit the ball to the ground first
Please tell me about some of these decisions that all the top teams are getting? Wigan? Warrington? the penalty count against Leeds on friday?

| For those who are bagging Hall:
Apps: 3
Tries: 2
Carries: 41 (13/game)
Meters: 452 (151/game)
Tackle busts: 11 (3.66/game)
Clean Breaks: 4 (1.33/game)
Offloads: 2
Tackles: 18
Missed: 3
% made: 85.7
Errors: 6 (2/game)
Yes the errors are high but didnt he make 3 of them on Friday? Also the main 1 he dropped was a high bomb into a crowded area which I have seen top wingers drop.

On the Donald 'no try' he dipped his left shoulder and turned his body in. It was a classic natural reaction that a left winger might do to avoid the touchline/corner post/in goal touchline when diving to cross the try line.
Whether that affected the missed opportunity is another matter.

| Whilst undertaking important research to stake a claim to coining TMFMISL phrase I came upon this thread. It's from the start of last year and it makes for interesting reading given certain posters expressed opinions on Ryan Hall.
Given the season he went on to have I wonder if posters such as LS16rhino, TVOC and broken time bandit still hold the same opinion of Hall?

I can't speak for the others but my opinion re Hall has developed just as he has as a player.
The first outside back's name pencilled in on the team-sheet now. Well done Ryan.

Is it any coincidence though that the comments made initially were at Hull KR last year? Personally I thought Hall put us under a lot of pressure on Friday by been too cumbersome and slow getting back for kicks this week, and I notice similar comments made by posters for the same fixture last year.

Hall can make mistakes sometimes but who doesn't?
To be fair the kicks were coming sometimes 3-4 tackle, you cant drop both wingers back every third tackle that would be suicide.
Good reading and play by Dobson & Murrell IMO.
If anyone put us under pressure on friday personally I thought it was Smith.

yes, but the comments weren't restricted to Hall's specific performance, rather his abilities or potential to make it as 1 1st choice player at Leeds or in SL in general.
