Also like that he mentions his deep interest in the psychology of the players too, which I think is criminally under prepared in the game. Well, I like what I hear, definitely a student of the game.

Just listening to Lot Pod and some Leeds fans rightly saying we must give Smith time. Regardless of how things start under his tenure, it has to be a long process, we are rotten and Smith needs the time to mould it as his own.

Just watched his press conference. Quite impressive. Definitely a familial resemblence to Tony in the way he talks about the game and his tole.

I was impressed in some ways, and surprised in others. Enjoyed hearing some of his coaching philosophies, thinking about the future, player development etc.

Slightly concerned he's only seen a few of our games this year. If I was either in the recruitment process (GH) or the prospective coach, I'd have wanted to watch every minute of every game, have a full breakdown of every player on the roster etc. He was very much like, let's see what it's like when I get there.

He's got an enforced period where he can't get hands on with the coaching. He should be spending every waking minute preparing, which it didn't seem he had been.

Maybe I'm being a bit too negative, but it definitely stood out to me.

While I take your point, there could be a perfectly reasonable explanation for that in that he’s got commitments to his current club to balance during ‘the process’ as well, especially considering there was no garuntee of a job.

I don’t doubt now he’s been announced he’ll be trying to do his homework, tho I’d imagine getting organized to move halfway round the world isn’t easy either.

Ha ha fair cop if you are referring to what Zak has done or hasn’t. I agree I shouldn’t have mentioned anything alleged unless Wigan or Zak choose to make public.
Either way I’d happily have Zak back at Leeds as he’s greatly matured and is a fine player….

I'd be surprised if Wigan got shot. With regards to Zak I suspect he'll always be a bit of liability off the pitch, and that will never change. One thing is for sure, he's never been a liability on it, which is more than we can all say for the vast majority of the current crop.

He did handle it well, echoes of his Uncle. Liked the bit about adding variety to attack, albeit it would be impossible to make it more basic.
Good luck to the guy, I just hope the club back him to bring in and let go who he wants in the next few years.
