Why not, a good young coach who has served his apprenticeship already as an assistant here. Got his first head coaching gig at a small club with finance issues and poor players and started at the bottom. Now give him an opportunity at a well run club with decent players and see what he can do.

Well he'll need to move away from the ailing bradford club at some point if he is to further his career.

The weird thing is though with Webb ,Senior and Ali he was ruthless but seems very reluctant elsewhere especially with the pack and wont even rotate/drop under performers unless injured??

He had a decent player at Bradford with Elliott Whitehead but decided to leave him out of games whilst he was still at the club because he wanted out. If Franny was at Leeds when Greg Eastwood and Danny Buderus wanted to leave the club early they would have been cut out of the team going by what went on with Whitehead. If he was head coach at Wigan this year Sam Tomkins would have been sat on the sidelines all year because of Frannys well intentioned but misguided way of dealing with want-away-players.

He's still young though and I don't think he's get away with such tactics at Leeds..

Eastwood had obviously not settled and missed Oz and his family, he certainly didn't just want-out to go elsewhere in SL, he was allowed to go, reluctantly but apparently amicably.
Tomkins saw out five years and then signed to say he wouldn't go to Union, Wigan send him off, again amicably, with a clause that they'll get first refusal if/when he returns.

Whitehead, on the other hand, had only just signed a new five-year deal and then two months later commented that the club wasn't going anywhere and he wanted-out.

Would I want him as head coach at Headingley? Hmm, probably not, some of the players are still too senior to his ex-player standing at Leeds and, whilst he's done the John-Kear-style underdogs-showing-what-they're-made-of thing very well, I don't think he has the long term ability anyway.

AFAIK Andy Gilder has never asked for his personal life to be discussed on the forum (nor have other users who use the forum that you should consider).

Reading between the lines it seems Bradford might have promised Elliott more than what they could deliver future-wise.

Elliott didn't get what he really wanted - he wanted things to go well at Bradford but they didn't so moved away. If Bradford were on the verge of challenging for the top four spots then I have no doubt Elliott would have stayed at the club he supported as a kid.

A lot of people are in jobs that they don't like but they still do the work that needs to be done. Likewise I think Elliott Whitehead would have done the same until he found another club. Instead he was chucked on the sidelines because of Frannys well-intentioned but flawed moral high ground.
