He should have been sacked for squandering a huge chance for England to get to a WC final with all the potential that had for the wider sport. I think you're indulging in a bit of British exceptionalism here. GB may not have had to play Aus or NZ on the way to the semi final but the game has moved on since the 1990s and now Samoa and to some degree Tonga are both capable of beating us as well as Australia and NZ. To lose to Samoa in a close semi final was disappointing bit shouldn't have been unexpected. They had some excellent players in the side.

Not for me and not convinced he'd give up a directorship at wigan in any case. The model that developed wane as a coach - and Matt Peet too - is something we should look at though.

After 8 years of serial underperformance, I trust the club is being paid a consultancy fee for our CEO to do this work rather than concentrate on turning around our ongoing failure.

I think I have seen GH at every one, but no other chairmen. That says everything about his passion for the game.

I know we sometimes complain about GH, but I can’t think of another person who would do a better job in administering the game overall. He’s an RL man through and through and we’ve been very lucky to have him in our camp for so many years.

Hetherington is a Rugby League obsessive, a genuine fan. He makes mistakes, of course, but his vision for the game comes from the heart, and his understanding of how hard it is for expansion clubs comes from bitter experience. I do wish he'd employ someone, anyone, who would properly proof-read his public emails and press releases though.
