Not for me he isn't. Some way behind what Monaghan and Roby bring to their teams, and that is the gripe. '"
Ah man, I'd have to disagree G1.
Buderus is easily one of (if not the) best 9s in the comp.
I understand your point about what Roby & Monaghan bring to their respective teams, and I'd tend to agree they do seem to bring more, but I'd suggest that's because of the way the teams play. Saints in particular are very 9 orientated. Probably because they had Cunningham for so long. They use the hooker as the main player maker, the man that controls everything from the middle of the park, so they're bound to "bring more to the team" because they're the one bringing everything. Sinfield seems to do that role no matter where you pick him. I think Buderus is happy to let him, then get involved (to great effect!) as and when is needed, instead of running the show from start to finish.

But putting accusations of agendas aside. Do you not believe that it is more than just a coincidence that Buderus is looking so good this season compared to previous, when he is getting proper game time, and not having to share with someone for the sake of it?

Possibly. Having said that he has been sharing game time with McShane recently and he could have used a longer rest period Friday because he was absolutely blowing out of his arris for those last 15 mins (he wasn't alone) and his fatigue was probably the reason for those late penalties.
Can he do 80 mins a week over the long season?

Prescott went over on what would have been the seventh tackle of that sequence had the penalty not been conceded by Buderus. Such small margins.
Quote ="G1"His influence ON LEEDS in the 3 season's he has been here have been greatly underwhelming considering that he is a legend in the game. Some appear to be unable to recognise that because of his reputation.'"
I have always had a reasonable expectation of what Buderus would bring based on the type of player he is and always appeared to be while playing in the NRL.
Organising, service and options taken from dummy half are all still top quality. Defensively strong hitting well above his weight, enthusiastic on kick chase while often leading it. Ability to play long minutes.
What he lacks at Leeds is a player of the quality of Andrew Johns at 1st receiver but that's hardly his fault.
His reading of the game (and where Leeds lost control of it) immediately after the final whistle was precise and to the point and 100% accurate IMO.

Quite.

He spoke about taking the game down the wrong channel. Isn't part of that down to him. I'd hardly expect him come out and say "Jeez I was flagging out there and couldn't get off the tackler before the Prescott try or the Tomkins penalty". I'd have a bit more respect for him if he had mind.

Did Buderus get a rest on Friday? I thought he was on for the full 80!
In the last 15 minutes I guess he made more tackles than any other player and he got back to make that final tackle. The 2 times he was done for offside he had actually made a tackle each time. I bet he was heading for 30 tackles in the game and the majority of those were first in on forwards as against some of the others who are normally 3rd in.

Similar situation to Torres IMO.

Who would do such a thing?
__________
For one week only (probably)
Leeds substitutions:
1 - Kirke replaces Leuluai (15 mins)
2 - Clarkson replaces Pitts (31 mins)
3 - McShane replaces Buderus (31 mins)
4 - Cross replaces Hauraki (33 mins)
5 - Buderus replaces Bailey (36 mins)
6 - Leuluai replaces Kirke (48 mins)
7 - Bailey replaces Cross (51 mins)
8 - Hauraki replaces Clarkson (53 mins)
9 - Cross replaces Bailey (62 mins)
10 - Kirke replaces Leuluai (67 mins)
11 - Pitts replaces Jones-Buchanan (68 mins)
12 - Jones-Buchanan replaces Cross (75 mins)
Which roughly equates to the following game-time:
Backs (Webb, Watkins, Ablett, Senior, Hall, Sinfield, Burrow) - 80 mins each
Leuluai - 34 mins
Buderus - 75 mins
Bailey - 47 mins
Pitts - 43 mins
Hauraki - 60 mins
Jones-Buchanan - 73 mins
McShane - 49 mins
Clarkson - 22 mins
Kirke - 46 mins
Cross - 36 mins

| One week only? That's a shame, it would certainly add to the Opta Stats thread if we know the "minutes played" by each Leeds player as it would put their stats into some kind of perspective.
Go on, you know you want to....

surely they give a truer indication of a players match stats do they not?

| I agree fellas, it would be useful to include them. Trouble is I could only do so from the full match Sky coverage and obviously that's only available the weeks Leeds are featured.
Anyone who doesn't think this is time consuming should give it a go for themselves.

It was a Burrow hospital pass to Cross resulting in a knock on that gave Wigan the field position to score one of their comeback tries.

It wasn't a great pass but it certainly should have been taken as Cross himself acknowledged by apologising to his team mates for not doing so.

Yes he had a good game. That on its own doesn't justify his existence. But neither does his lack of MOM's indicate that he isn't a very valuable member of the team

I'd guess the former depending on your reading skilzzs.
It takes around 2 hours a game in total to update the Leeds stats from the Opta website, take baseling readings for the next opponents, update between two spreadsheets, copy to paper, then input into a word document to finally copy and paste on to here.
I'd be doing most of that anyway for my own records but it probably still takes 30 minutes or so extra to create the weekly thread for on here.
Of course I fully appreciate that in the end that's my choice as I don't have to do that and nobody has to read it.
