I've been following Rohan Smith's career closely for the last 2 hours...

We need to give the bloke a chance. He seems well thought of and it's a huge opportunity for him. He's of an age where you'd expect him to live and breathe the job and deliver a lot of energy and ideas.

I'm hopeful. We should be getting players back in the next 3 or 4 weeks so it could be great timing for him and the club.

Hes got a big job on his hands but i really think Rohan Smith is about the best we was ever going to get. Some of the names mentioned like Paul Green was never going to be a realistic option.

Hes a major improvement on what we currently have. I wish him well. It may or may not work out but theres a chance it will at least.

Im happy, think its an exciting hire, our current predicament makes it a slightly risky one, but think in the longer term he will prove to be a good coach for us.

The NRL assistant coach/Reserve Grade head coach market is a hotbed for coaching talent, Rohans one of the hottest names among them at present. Like i say, exciting hire imo.

Happy that we have an appointment, but just heard GH press conference - Backroom staff will remain as is. - Really need a full shake-up

Good appointment, certainly better than anything British imo. Wigan and Sts in particular have taken the option of ARL assistant coaches with a good degree of success so maybe not as big a gamble as many would think.
What we should do is give the lad a chance and get right behind him. This season is a write off now so let’s plan for a big push next year.

Really think Rohan will go well for you guys.

He's got an eye for a good player, In the short time he was with us where we had a ridiculous recruitment policy of having a squad with about 40+ players and having 10 wingers, Rohan brought two players that's we'd been crying out for all year in Dane Chisholm and Kieran Moss and immediately transformed us.

He's a players coach as well. Remember talking to a few players at the time who said he had regular one to one meetings all the time with the players. They really loved him and working with him.

Sounds as though he'd have good knowledge and contacts amongst up and coming Aus players too - a market we've been none too great at exploiting recently

Definitely best we could have expected.
I'd have been so disappointed with someone like Ward or Wane.

Sounds like same backroom team for this season, then if TS comes in as DOR, time for a full shake up.

On Hardaker, I'd normally say no chance.
But tbh I'd take any new player right now.
He'd actually be handy.
Watching Field and French for Wigan - OMG what we'd give for some pace like that.
They don't get a look in in the NRL, but devastating over here.

That's ok for this season, but if the Coach wants to change the playing or Backroom staff GH should be listening.

His record at Norths last season,

Finished 1st in the league, played 17, won 15, best attack (points scored) and best defence (points conceded)

Beat 2nd place Wynnum Manly 16 - 10 in Grand Final.

Played 4, won 3 so far this season.

If Rohan can keep us up we’ll be in a much better place where an off season and recruitment rethink.
Hardaker would be more than useful , and I think we can get him If we pay Wigan a fee as he’s insulted the coach and club there……

Allegedly kicked off about having to go back to Wigan after Wakey game just for a debrief. Allegedly Been very rude verbally to Peet in-front of the team. Allegedly at odds with club on Covid vax.

He can't be too cranky about the vax as he played in toulouse

If he’d recovered from Covid relatively recently before travel I think you could get an exemption. We should keep well clear off Hardaker imo

Far too many, it’s not a great look when you can’t get the name of your new head coach right and get him mixed up with the head coach of another Super League club.

I’m literally shaking my head at the thought that we’d have sunk that low that it would even be considered that bringing Hardaker back would have a positive impact on the club.

Agreed, I think he’s a great appointment, he’s an up and coming ambitious coach who’s had plenty of experience at assistant coach level, although he’s had limited experience as a head coach.
