Who has been slating Smith?

Yep, got to admit, even I am not saying Gareth is slating Smith.

Smith is a great player, and is playing exceptionally well. Its a credit to him that he has taken this opportunity.

Webb was a world class player before his injury and will hopefully continue to be when he gets back. When he does come back Bluey will have a hard decision to put him if Smith continues in this form.

I think that although he has performed well on the wing in the past, he is a nutuarl fullback and when given a bit of space is dangerous with the ball. Its his foot speed that does this rather than his pace. This is why I think the management could see him as a centre. Get him more involved, rather than just getting him to finish.

I remember in 2006 before his loss of confidence, watching a few games, and noticing that when recieving the ball from a kick, he nearly always broke the first tackle, or at the least was able to half break and get quick plays. I think that we need to utilise his footwork more, and I don;t think the answer to that is on the wing.

I may even be tempted to play Webb in the centres or off the bench to start with if Smith continues on this form

Contrary to what Gareth thinks, that has actually been talked about by the players at HQ. Whether it happens, well thats a different thing.

The centre issue has only been talked about since Smith as excelled there by the club. The players are ones that have mentioned it.

Of course, some others though say he is out of the club to Union.

No idea tbh. I hope for the lads sake he does.

They must've seen something in him to sign him.

Personally, I wish him all the best though I was as bemused as the next person when they signed him.

When did Smith excell (sic) in the centres? You agreed on an early page that Smith's potential as a centre was all hypothetical.

On the subject of players first name on teamsheet in positions 1-5. Would have to be Senior or Donald based on Teamssheets for the last couple of years.

Can't remember either being dropped or rested during that period. Same goes for Webb.

I agree with you that there was no proof he would excell there.

Now the players have been talking about in the club with the management, that perhaps the better option would be for Webb to play centre and Smith play fullback.

IMO that suggests the club dont think Webb is actually "vastly superior" to Smith at fullback. It does however give the impression that the club see Webb highly enough and versatile to cover our problem centre spots, or just see him as a better option than Smith.

So the players(which you've yet to name) think smith is better at full back with webb at centre!
That doesn't equate to the "club" thinking that though does it??
Bluey has repeatedly stated smith (if he stays) will play right centre and webb is no1 FB.

I see. Well that concludes the argument then. Some un-named players have allegedly been discussing playing Webb at centre. I can't rebut that. Case closed. Smith is obviously the better full back.................................noooooooooooooot
