For me we need a clear and consistent structure which takes boys and girls right through a regional structure into a professional club academy. There is some devil in the detail as to how you draw and enforce catchment areas, and at which point you give young players a choice of club to play for, but these are fixable issues.
The professional club/licensee should be at the head of that regional structure, and every club should have the same responsibilities in developing its region.
We need to have clear progression for players, administrators and officials which allows the most talented to rise through to the licensed club.
Any petty barriers to those progression pathways should be broken down, and funding should follow good work at grassroots.
14 licensees, 14 well-resourced youth academies/development centres of excellence. We focus on identifying and developing talent across the functions in the game and then provide a pathway, based purely on merit, right through to international level.
This is a case of evolution rather than revolution, but we need to take ownership as a game and stop moaning about media / school bias and stop infighting.
We have several shining lights: the ladies' game, the community aspect, the values as a game and a population. I believe there is still a market for those things compared to our competitors - but let's not forget this is an entertainment business.

| Actually I think we are now too good to go down this year.
Ava has been great, Lunt improved our structure I thought, Lui quieter but some touches (he’s not quick though is he?), and Martin started to get more involved tonight, some nice moments.
We’re still a few players short of where we need to be, and we’ll look far better once this cobbled together side has had a full closed season together and the youngsters have some more conditioning in them.

| Wakefield - Wigan A, St Helens A, Hull FC H, Hull KR A, Wigan H, Warrington A, London H.
Huddersfield - Hull KR A, Leeds H, Salford A, Hull FC A, Castleford H, St Helens A, Catalan H.
Leeds - Hull FC H, Huddersfield A, Catalan H, St Helens H, London A, Salford H, Warrington H.
Hull KR - Huddersfield H, Castleford H, Wigan A, Wakefield H, Catalan A, London H, Salford A
London - St Helens H, Salford H, Castleford A, Catalan A, Leeds H, Hull KR A, Wakefield A.
Taken Salford out now as they’ve probably made themselves safe with tonight’s win. A tough run in for the bottom teams.

| That final London/Wakey game could be the big one.
We could really do with beating Hull next week, but it depends which version of them turns up.

| A lot will depend on other teams attitude. Sts a week before Wembley might be a bonus, but there's scope for plenty of "shock" results once some teams start putting their feet up.

| Need two wins out of the next 4 games. Hull, Hudds, Cats, Sts (week before Wembley). Get that and we go to London knowing a win makes us safe.

Never mind other teams attitude. It's our attitude that concerns me.

Too good to go down. You are joking surely. With an approach to a key game last night which stank this team demonstrates with its lack of desire all the attributes of a team that deserves to be relegated. SINFIELD OUT!!

It’s very possible KS would resign if we got relegated on his watch.
I think with the players we’ve signed over the past month or two, we are now too good to go down yes. Before that, I thought we were in real danger.
It looks like we’ll need to run with what we’ve got now until the end of the season. We now have Ava, Martin, Merrin and Hurrell who are all close to first grade NRL quality. On paper there is no way we should finish below London.

| Unfortunately the game isn’t played on paper. I don’t think we will go down, but I don’t see us going any better than 9th.
Big changes needed on and off the pitch in the close season. Culture is still terrible...

| A team that shows such a pathetic, lethargic, half d attitude like we did on friday, in such an important game, certainly isnt too good to go down. Talent counts for little when the attitudes rubbish.

| Whilst were not too good to go down as Jim claims at least hes consistent in his opinion. Others think were going to be lifting the trophy at Old Trafford after a win and then say were going down to the Championship after a loss just a week later. Its bloody laughable.

| I have been consistent in my opinion saying the only team we can finish above is London and that is looking doubtful . Some on here were getting carried away with us beating Catalan who had lost their previous 3 games by a total of around 160 points to 18 and then Cas who had no halfbacks .

The only saving grace is the gap to the top is not as huge as it was, or should i say the top dogs are not at the level they were before the turn of this decade. The right coaching appointment, a couple of quality signings along with some of the young lads coming on well and 2/3 seasons we could be mixing it again.we are certainly at a cross roads though with some massive decisions coming.

| I’m not saying I’m complacent at all with where we’re at, and the bridge with Saints is a fair span right now, but we’re not too far away from being competitive again at least.
We’re missing some star quality and some aggression in the pack. This side needs 1) time and a closed season together, 2) 2-3 real quality signings in key positions, 3) some better structure.
Most of the necessary changes have been made already. Clearly there will be more - several players off contract will be replaced, one or two more under contract might be shifted on too.

| Saints are to rest up to 10 players against London this week.
Does this make relegation more of a threat?

| Yes it does but Huddersfield and Hull KR copping injuries also won’t be a help to them. Their game vs each other this Friday is huge.

Why should it? Saints are 10 points clear at the top of the table, if they want to rotate their squad and give a load of youth players a run out I don’t see a problem with that, what rules will it break?
