Do you honestly think Briscoe/Sutty are anywhere near good enough? Even at SL level. Austin won’t be cheap. Just think squad would have been a lot better if we’d retained Koni and Gale. We didn’t really need Bentley either…..

Briscoe and Sutty are decent SL players, they're also not our first choice Centre pairing are they.

We offered Koni more money than Saints, what more could we have done, he wasn't worth anywhere near Marquee money.

Personally I'd argue our team is better with Austin and Sezer in the half rather than Sezer/Gale. We'll have to wait and see, Gale was also out injured for a lot of his Leeds career.

He played 22 games in 2 years in fact

I think they are solid SL players, not top class and id hope Broadbent would be overtaking them both at some point. I honestly dont think you are giving enough consideration to the cap, we'v brought in Sezer, Austin and Fusitua, id rather have any of them 3 over Hurrell, we cant keep everbody.

On top of that, Hurrell wasnt great either, for all the fantastic highlight runs there were all the errors and defensive misreads. Like iv already said, he's a better fit for where Saints are than where we are currently imo.

Yup fair points. Do you not think Broadbent should be getting in at LC now though, and not trying to shoehorn other players in there? I’m not sure the management rate him as highly as we do…..
Class players start getting picked aged 17-18 onwards. Look at Chev Walker, Watkins, even Jack Walker….

Suttcliffes rubbish at standoff, the weakness he has to his game at Centre is magnified and even more detrimental at 6.

He's a decent defender and a decent runner with a bit of size. Not great, but solid at centre

You mention Jack Walker, maybe his injury problems stem ftom the fact he was thrown in too early.

Don’t think so, just been really unlucky. That foot injury looked absolutely nothing at the time, and freakish to keep him out of the game for 2 years….
I think left centre is one of the most important positions in the team. We’ve had our best players in that position over the years and scored Most of our tries through that avenue (Senior, Moon).

Id be playing Broadbent now, its one of the small issues i have that when Broadbent and Briscoe are in the same lineup, Agar favours Briscoe at Centre and Broadbent on the wing, i dont understand it at all, there games are much better suited the other way round. But regardless of that, having a star Centre in Newman, 2 solid options in Suttcliffe and Briscoe and a very good youngster in Broadbent is plenty of cap invested in the position, and more than enough reason that letting Hurrell go was the correct decision with the money and quota places spent on better players at positions of more need.

Broadbent played 13 games last year and scored 9 tries. This despite a nasty injury. He'll get another shot in due course, quite possibly this week.

Said many times before, Koni was the best decision all round. He'll do ok at Saints, but we were right to let him go.
Briscoe and Sutty are not the best pairing in the league, but they're not our first choice Centres.
Won't be long before it's Broadbent and Newman, the other 2 are decent back ups.

As for Gale, his 2 years were very underwhelming and he became a problem in the end.
Absolutely right decision to let him go.
Sezer and Austin will go great together.
And no problem with Leeming and Myler as back ups, now Johnson and Walker are back in the mix.

Part of me agrees re Bentley.
I was really pleased when he signed, but Saturday has deflated that.
Early days, but he could be a liability.
And we have plenty of options in back row.
Gannon is class and deserves his place in the 17.

Look to be honest Id give Broadbent the other centre spot if i was Agar and we need Newman back I won’t disagree with you on that.

Briscoe isn’t actually slow, he is however not a centre, and I wouldn’t be playing him there as I say Id be playing Broadbent.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said slow. Dynamic, attacking threat , power, slip pass would all have been better terms. Hurrell not quick no, but powerful ++.
