So your grand example of the CEO and coach being antagonistic, threatening, hostile and full of retribution is to post a link of a guy who was here for a single season way back in 2001 (10 years before the current coach took over btw) and his main gripe was that he was told by the team manager to take a taxi home when he picked up a collarbone injury?

The current CEO has been in charge since 1996, so Mears treatment is relevant.

I've already stated earlier that Leeds have a reputation for being malevolent, hostile, litigious, towards players who the club (The CEO) no longer see eye to eye with.

Far more malevolent, hostile and litigious than any other club I'm aware of.

Here's others who the club have treated poorly during the tenure of current management... Jamie Thackray, Ben Cross, Darrell Griffin, Paul Sterling, Nick Scruton, Paul McShane, Danny Ward, Lee Jackson, Mark Calderwood, Liam Hood.

I'll happily question/criticise GH on a number of subjects but lets not hold every player on that list as holier than thou & blameless for their treatment/departures

Unfortunately for the CEO, he no longer has a squad of players with a core group displaying leadership qualities who look remotely likely to bail him or his ego out anytime soon.

I agree with that & thus far "plan B" has been a car crash the next 12/18mths will be crucial & show whether or not the CEO has reached his sell by date i do think his 2 biggest mistakes thus far wrt the transition has been recruitment & retaining this Coaching set up which doesn't bode well at all imo.

Calderwood left for more money and to play full back ( he Can't)
Danny Ward Several issues and warnings for behavior and drink driving
Paul Sterling Treated badly by the coach of the time Dean Lance.... Dean Lance SACKED by the CEO
Ben Cross Was a flop and did not get into the team, asked for a release which was granted
Lee Jackson Left in 2000 with 12 months contract remaining to return to Hull on a two year deal again long before BM was coach
Darrell Griffin Could not get in team and sent to Salford on loan, should not have done the Dirty on Saints after agreeing a verbal deal with them.
Jamie Thackray Another player who did not make the grade and shipped out to Doncaster and Hull

Criticism of the club is / can be justified at times however your constant whine is boring and yes a discussion board so other peoples views also count.

You overlooked two players who the club treated appallingly - Chev Walker and Ryan Bailey. Neither of those needed to end up in prison if the club had paid for the appropriate quality of legal advice. Sadly the club left them out to dry and into youth custody/prison.

Ryan Sheridan and Andy Hay two from many years ago!!

paul sterling was disliked by the players and they didn't want him there.
danny ward had numerous warnings for drinking.
Calderwood thought the grass was greener and wanted to go.
Thackray was a waste of space, addicted to fruit machines and liked a drink at the wrong time

So it's GH's fault that two people broke the law and got themselves jailed.

Anything else we want to blame GH and the club for? Princess Diana's death maybe? The stock market crash of 1929? Shergar's disappearance?

I too find it difficult to understand why it would ever be the clubs responsibility to fund legal advice for two of their employees who have allegedly committed an offence out of work time...

I'm certain that if the majority on here got sent to prison for a drunken brawl they wouldn't have a job when they got out nevermind the CEO turning up to court as a character witness and releasing a statement of support after the guilty verdict.

Its the club's job to get these young guys earning not a lot the best advice and representation - something Leeds failed to achieve. If you speak to Chev - who I think is a pretty level headed down to earth guy - he really resents the way the club virtually washed their hands of them. Yes the let them play on after but that was only to stop other clubs getting their hands on them.

Let's compare the actions of Leeds Utd with Bowyer and Woodgate and GH and Walker and Bailey.

It could argued that what Bowyer and Woodgate did was far worse - yet guess what they walk free why do you think that was?

It probably was far worse i agree. I also don't agree they should have defended them either. As WF Rhino says, in any other walk of life your employer would not be willing to provide legal aid out of work time, especially drunken disorderly on the lash with your mates.

Did Bowyer and Woodgate deserve to walk free? Did Walker and Bailey? Ever heard of taking responsibility for your actions? Why did Bowyer and Woodgate get better advice/representation.....anybody would think football had a lot more money in that sport than RL.

You say it's the clubs job to get these guys the best advice and representation.....well it's also the players jobs not to get themselves arrested for drunken brawls so they failed in their roles much worst first.

The people to blame for Walker and Bailey being jailed are......Walker and Bailey.

Interesting you should say that - as having known both players well from well before that incident, I have the complete opposite impression. Both players and their families have expressed nothing but gratitude and praise for the way Leeds supported them during and after that whole eopisode.
And for one of them, that support continued for over a decade, despite many other incidents along the way.
