| We must be in a bad way as we're being patronised by ex-players. Mitch Garbutt in the YEP is sure we'll come good. When the opposition come out with this stuff after they've stuffed us, you know we're in trouble.

Following a professional rugby league players training and nutrition plan is what he needs to do, him shooting guns isn’t going to be any use to us.

| Walker and Smith out for a few weeks, and all the other injured players are at least 4 weeks away from coming back.
Furner also confirmed Trout, Newman and Golding will play against Workington.

| So, Golding finally gets his chance. I hope he goes well. No point having him in the squad otherwise.
I'm in the Walker camp on this one, but I agree that Walker is far from the finished article. If Golding can come in and recapture his form from 2017, that would be a big boost for the team - IIRC he was regularly making stunning one-on-one try-savers that kept us in a number of games. We've not seen enough of this from Walker (and the team in general) so far this year.

| The main thing we need is defence. Once Ava and some of the injured return we can worry about attacking play. I don't think Golding is the long term solution but if he can help with goal line defence we'll be harder to beat.

great to see Golding given a chance to impress, his defense full stop is way ahead of Walker, walker may well still be long term first choice, but we need players like Golding who will run their blood to water for the club, something quite alot of this squad will not do, and walker will not. Is walker a better talent yes/maybe, but he is a show pony at the moment and will not do the tough stuff that's required, and dropping him for a few games may kick him up the a*** to show he is not the NRL ready superstar he thinks he is.

Clueless alert.
Golding is Championship quality at best. Absolute myth that he is strong defensively, the amount of drop goals he concedes from being out of position is embarrassing. Has he even broken a tackle in Super League yet?

Go on then back these claims up how many drop goals has he coincided, and even if he has how many are due to our powder puff defense allowing sides to stroll 70-80 meters down filed. Clearly you simply hate the lad and will go out of your way to make up, obliviously a "clueless" walker fan boy with a crusty sock. Walker has been mostly pish poor this season and was particularly poor last week right thing to do to drop him and give Golding a chance.

I would say you are embarrassing yourself there. Walker was a million miles from poor last week. He made errors with some kick offs and that is it. Is game play was very good. You have an issue with Walker and always have, so don't have a go at someone else for having a go at one of your go to's.
It is unfair to label Golding championship standard, that is wrong IMO. But his point about how much ground we conceede with him on kicks is absolutely correct. He is powder puff running out the ball, and he gets put back so many times conceeding ground and generally drop outs, as the other poster said. There are however other positives to Goldings game that gets overlooked. But don't kid yourself on not realising those negative points.

| I dont know why it is Walker or Goulding, both are in the Leeds squad at the moment, would like them both to be playing so good that the coach has the difficult decision of which to select every week (or potentially find a spot for both) - feels a bit like some people (not everyone I know) want one of the players to fail so their favourite stays in - I'd be delighted to return to at least some competition for places

whilst as we know walker is your favorite and you will not have a word said against him so its horses for courses, but you are completely deluded if you think walker had a good game last week, he bottled several kick returns was nowhere near on some tackles near the line and looked like he was avoiding making tackles, Golding may be a lesser player and may get pushed back, but maybe that's because he will take the ball and try to run it back rather than amble back and hope somebody else picks it up first, and is prepared to put his body on the line.
My problem with Walker is people like you who have over hyped him from day 1 and who won't have a word said against him but are happy to rip other players to bits for similar deficiencies.
He was crap last week full stop to0 say apart from the bad kicks he was good generally is being selective at best, he deserved to get dropped. he has been average so far this year with a coupe of very good games and at least two very very poor performances, and if Golding has a stormer this week he may get the shirt against Huddersfield. Its up to Walker to be more consistent and show he his prepared to put his body on the line more.

| Gotcha - Walker was bloody awful v kr. He failed miserably to stop any of the tries he got involved with and was barely jogging across on the tries scored away from the middle. Not to mention 3 kicks any one of which was inexcusable. No wonder you think he's a one in a generation player if you think that was anything other than garbage.
He can and has played much better but don't try and explain that away and claim he was ok - he simply wasn't. What I want to see is him having a stormer when we're not playing well, not bagging tries when we're thrashing someone.

And this is what I am talking about with posters like you talking utter nonsense. Look at your first and second sentence you have put there, and you say you saw the match? you obviously didn't because this never happened. How did you miss the try saving tackle on the line in the second half? seriously how are you missing this? I may have a positive opinion of the guy, that may be true, but you most certainly have an agenda against and digging a big hole for yourself.

| Cannot understand the thinking behind bagging a 19 year old who incidentally, though not without his flaws, is easily one of the top 5 players this year. Not sure where this impression of him being some arrogant kid who thinks a bit much of himself comes from either.
Sort out the crap that’s infront of him and he may just continue to develop. It’s not just goal line D it’s the soft stuff in the good ball end that has the team constantly going backwards.

We only need to read this little bit to see the nonsense you are talking, as this is just not in anyway what happened last week. Like I said complain about the kicks, and make an unnecessary issue out of it (yet of course ignore Sutcliffe doing the same), but the rest you have said is just rubbish. Not one bottled kick return.

Your arguing with 2-3 people on this post and a couple on another, so pretty sure you are the one who watched a different game to everybody else last week. Your blinkered opinions of him are quite clear, the criticism of Walker last week is fair and true enough, he rightly is dropped/rested this week, it does not mean he is a bad player or is still not a great prospect, nor does it mean others have an agenda against him. But he has work to do and needs to improve.
People where quick to want to bin Golding off as soon has Walker scored 3 tries against Doncaster in the Cup when Golding was barely 20 years old. Now Walker is getting a bit of stick for some bad performances you don't like it.
