The Mole (generally utterly wrong on anything to do with SL) has suggested that Hull KR may be after Seibold for the end of the season. Sounds iffy as he says they feel like they need a change of direction, when Tony Smith is clearly doing a bang up job for them. Just adds to the mix of names floating around. I assume we find out after the Board Meeting.

That’s what I thought too, I’m not expecting an announcement today, otherwise the discussion with the board is just GH telling them what he’s done.

This must be the case. The terms must have been agreed, and contracts drawn up in principle. GH won't act within a vacuum, and the board will have had awareness over who he has been in contact with. I wouldn't be surprised if the meeting is simply ratifying the appointment, so there's shared ownership amongst the decision makers. The proposed coach may have even been asked to present to the board their plans for the first team... Having said that, maybe my imagination is getting a bit ahead of me.

I think he referred to informing the board and then announcing on the same day in the statement he gave to the YEP.

Understand what you’re saying, but it’s a rugby league club not a multinational. Who else on the board is really qualified to challenge GH’s decision? It’s for information only.

The financial package available for a new coach would have been agreed in principle before interviewing candidates so I expect this meeting to be a very quick ratification before appointment. New coach probably wiser keeping own council on their plans until they are in position and see the scale of the issues they have inherited. Must be minimum 3 year deal to give opportunity to sort out playing staff.

There will be controls in place to ensure financial decisions are made at the correct level given the value. Above a certain level it will need to be board decision. This is likely to be a £500k cost so it needs signing off at a board meeting.

I’ve no idea who it will be but If it is Seibold would he be able to start quickly as will have a work visa already as in UK.
That might fit the can start on Friday story.

I think GH enjoys the speculation a bit and as we saw with the “we are not signing Ferres” saga he’s happy to misdirect. So the seniority line could be rubbish. Which is fair enough, see what happens tomorrow.

Re Seibold doesn't a Work Visa apply to a specific job and company? If so it wouldn't help him start straight away, but probably would help him to get another.

A quick look on the .gov website suggests that a new Visa will be needed, and it can be up to 8 weeks to receive it if you're already in UK...

Only teasing......

The first thing an overseas coach will need is a GBE (Governing Body Endorsement) given his past and what he’s doing now A Seibold would obviously qualify for this no problem. Then a visa has to be applied for which again it will be a given that it’s granted but this can take up to 8 weeks. It may be possible (although I’m not 100% sure but think it is) that Leeds can take over as his sponsor from the RFU and the visa be transferred in which case he’d be available straight away. After this Leeds can then extend the visa at its expiry.

It may well be true. TS has just announced he'll be leaving Hull KR at the end of the season. He also confirmed he won't be coming to Leeds
