I don't care how incompetent, useless or even downright bent the ref may be its still not his fault that a game is abandoned.

I’m still battling on for those who are worried. I might even pen my last hit I’m that bad: Will I Make It To Christmas Day?

Right if:

1) the ref is slowing the game down to a walking pace it takes 1 hour and 30mins to play 60mins of rugby and get through half time and there were more penalties than after that 60minutes than a whole RU game. The majority were incorrect and stupid
2) the ref had penalised three times for throwing punches without taking any action sinbinning wise and let one player off who abused him to the ground and was the main part in a fight. Instead of taking action he let him be substituted instead.

The ref didn't have control over the game due to incompetance. He let the game get in that state and didn't stamp his authority on it. He was at fault for the abandondment.

This isn't Super League where pro players at the top of their sport, with a crowd behind them gets players worked up and fights can occur. This is amateur.

Who was throwing the punches?

I'll give you a hint, it wasn't the ref.

A 26-man brawl breaks out, the game has to be abandoned and we blame the ref?
And we wonder why no-one south of Sheffield takes any notice of RL?

This season I unwisely got into the whole it’s the refs fault when in reality we all want the referee to be invisible. Some games you hardily notice the ref but other days when you’ve got players acting a bit rough then your bound to see the referee involved to penalise the players for high tackles and the sort.

Simon needs to start looking into the history of rugby league and he may just stop moaning about referees at grass roots games.

Damo, if i was to say you could've reffed it better would you understand how useless the ref was?

There were no penalties given correctly though, apart fro, the odd high shot etc. The ref even gave a scrum for a penalty. Shouldn'y we worry about this as it'd turn more people, kids and adults away from playing the sport when the ref shows lack of knowledge of the rules etc?

You can put Steve Ganson (based on his last Grand Final appearance) in charge of a Queens game against Headingley Hornets (are they still going?) and you’ll still get trouble and the game may just get called off. Its pretty common is fighting at grassroots level as I remember hearing about it every other week.

You’ve got to remember that everyone is human including the referee. If you want to see a good game of rugby league then I recommend you just go and watch super league like I do.

I'm not complaining about the standard of the game. I'm complaining that the ref p[ii[/issed everyone off and got them worked up over stupid things and he then continued to let the game boil over. Had he sent someone off in the 3 prior bust ups then i'm pretty sure this abrupt ending to the game could've been avoided.
