when the history books are written about this period ni the years to come Kirkes name will be there for all to see 3 SL rings and at least 1 wcc medal he's played at Wembley and he's not finished yet.some of us on here re read the Headingley story and see names of players in cup winning teams,names that dont exactly roll of the tongue.Maybe supporters of that time will have said the same about one or two of those players like "how is so and so getting into this team ?"

IMHO, stats can only ever support what you see with your own eyes, otherwise you don't have the full picture as on their own stats can be very misleading, especially without knowing the number of minutes played.

Time has a way of airbrushing people's memories of most players. We have had dreadful seasons with greats like Lewis Jones, Arthur Clues, John Atkinson, John Holmes etc in the team. When people talk about past players they don't remember the poor performances, they remember the big wins, great tries etc. Give it 10 years and Kirke will be remembered as playing an important support role in our recent success.

FWIW I think I agree with whoever said Kirke is the sort of player who can look reasonable in a good team and poor in a bad one - he simply doesn't have the ability to make a difference. If it wasn't him in our GF teams it would have been someone similar.

I didn't forget the common sense approach, just used the information I had available, combined with previous knowledge of Moore having seen him play a number of times over the years.

Regardless of how you look at it, the signing of Moore makes no sense whatsoever. If he's cheap then so are the kids, if he's not why the hell did we even look at him? All I see is someone of average ability, who is very unlikely to improve, blocking the path of a younger player.

I'm in two minds on the Moore signing. If we are signing Griffin aswell and along with resigning Kylie and Bailey, like you I can not see the point.

However, I don't see him as bad signing individually. Until he got his illness the other year he looked an extremely good prop, and lets not forget looked certain for a move to a bigger club, with Wigan especially desperate to sign him. He took his time to recover, and this season I remember best the game we played against Crusaders at home where he was a million miles ahead of any other prop on the pitch.

I can't help but think he will be a good signing when all said and done. But I hope it is not at the cost of more needed positions if we have a massive queue of props sat there.

In the salary cap era it's impossible to have superstars in every position.
All teams have to have a smattering of journeymen in their ranks. Kirke is one of ours, like Prescott & O'Carroll at Wigan, Clough & others at Saints, Cooper at the Wolves.
At least he misses very few tackles & makes few errors unlike the alleged superstars.
Yes, I wish he'd make more yards going forwards but he does his job to the best of his limited ability in accordance with the wishes of all the coaches he's played under.
& he causes no bother off the pitch, a typical steady Eddy that all organisations need.

I'd say the likes of Prescott and Clough are comfortably better players than Kirke TBH.
