Didn't Pete move from Cas to Wire this year. I've never met him or those who've worked with/under him, but I know the media saw it as a positive move, However i saw John Joyner on Backchat last week who said Cas hadn't brought anyone through their academy since Daryl Clark



Always thought is Cas having a great academy but if that is true (and i was trying to work it out) then it's not great reading really.

Wire always seem to struggle to develop players into their first team. Only Ben Currie is the real success.

How can Joyner possibly come out with that? unless you misheard surely?

Right now playing consistently and staring for them, Milner and Holmes each week, both directly through the grades at Cas. Plenty of others getting games, but those two are fixtures, Milner around the same time as Clark and Holmes after wasn't he? Even Eden, top super league try scorer for them last season, started out through their academy and into first team, before coming back.

Holmes and Milner made their debuts in 2010, Clark in 2011. Eden also made his debut for Cas in 2011. So Joyner is technically correct. There are some like Maher who've come through, but struggled for a regular place in the 17.

Two leeds players in the england youth squad for the tour of france, Jacob Gannon (rumoured to be joining warrington) and liam tindall. Absolute joke that we only have 2 players selected imo. Wigan, who we beat 34 -14 at this level, lead the way with 5.

We never seem to get many players selected at that level. Am I right in thinking the England coaches at that level are involved with the Wigan club?

Joe Burton should be in I would've thought.

I only get to see him on the highlights but he looks outstanding along with others like Anderson & Stephens.

The club announced the signings for 2019 U19s in the programme v Catalan, I didn’t manage to get the programme so hopefully someone will be able to put their names up

Gannon has joined Warrington.He was presented along with the rest of wires 19's signings a few weeks ago.

when i was playing schools Rl loads of players from my area were playing Yorkshire schools but come picking national sides it was always loads of players from wigan area, remember a few players who where touted as pretty much guaranteed future star players who sank without a trace cant even recall there names, whilst a few of the Yorkshire players from my age group had good careers and a few had bit part to modest pro careers.

The Head coach of England under 16s and some of the back room staff are from City of Hull Academy.

I was out with Andersons family last night. Can confirm that Harry Anderson, Ollie Adamson, the Burton brothers and TJ Barton have contracts. Surprised at TJ to be honest, but well done to them all.

Are there any we've missed out on apart from the player mentioned earlier?

New 19's for next season announced on the website, happy with the intake, as above but with TJ Barton instead of Gannon. Very strong group.

As someone who watches 16s and 19s I’m really pleased with the quality of this group. There’s some
Real talent amongst them. Another year where good numbers have gone up (13 last year) we seem to have got our act together over the past 2-3 years in regards to player development well done all concerned

Having watched the England u16 lose to France, i am amazed that Joe Burton wasn't chosen amongst a few others.
Hanley was ok but I'm not sure he is a centre and the other centre from Hull didn't offer much.
Leeds halves are much better than McNamara who was chosen at 6.
I think England had only 3-4 players who impressed.

Baptiste Fabre who played stand-off for France u16s against England is on his way to Leeds.

Joe Burton, Oli Burton, Iwan Stephens and Harry Anderson in the England u16's squad to play Wales on Saturday, much changed squad from the one beaten by France recently. Danny Attley also in the squad, but he wasnt announced as one we'd offered an academy contract to.

Just read that Iwan got Man of the Match in this game and that Joe Burton got 2 tries!! Great to hear they did well. Some real talented kids coming out of the scholarship to add to the quality already in the 19s.

We just need a coach like Griffin to bring them through in the first team eventually. He has a good record for promoting youth and developing correctly.
