| Quote ="rugbyleague88"Although I wouldn't move Hall to the centre, who says a centre has to be creative. If Hall was to move to centre, he would be likely to get earlier more quality ball which could make him more devastating. If he is finishing chances and scoring 30+ tries then I wouldn't see the problem in it. Sometimes wingers can be anonymous because they aren't getting the opportunities, bringing them in field can make them more effective.
I personally think Hall would be more effective on the wing than centre though, although it'd be interesting to see him play at centre a couple of times and see how it goes.'"
There are plenty of not-so-creative centres in SL. This is chiefly because we struggle, nationally, to rpoduce anything else. Moving another pacy powerhouse finisher there doesn't really help.
Really good centres are the ones who can score, yes, but who create chances for their winger. Watkins is the best prospect of this kind English RL has produced in a long time. Ablett is actually better at it than people give him credit for and I think is a better centre than many who are highly rated (Yeaman, Welham, Cudjoe) for that reason. I'd have no issue with him being at centre again next year, but I don't know whether he feels the same.
If he was happy there, it'd need to be real class that we brought in, because I can't actually see many centres running around in SL at the moment. The ones that there are (Atkins is one who seems to have really worked on his creative play, in a more Senior than Lyon way -ie hit the line and slip an offload out of contact) are like rocking horse s**t and their clubs are not going to be too keen on releasing them.

| Quote ="nantwichexile"Being entirely serious this reflects my train of thought.
Hall is a fabulous finisher perhaps lacking a bit of pace (but then that never did Alan Smith much harm), but as with Watkins, Leeds need to find a way to put the ball into his hands more often.
(Hall outside Watkins on the right would at least guarantee Hall getting increased quality ball).
Personally I would be seriously indifferent to Leeds signing any centre other than somebody of the quality of Ingliss of course. Ablett and Keinhorst offer plenty enough for SL in the LC position IMO. Leeds need to focus more on the shape of the future pack this coming season........and I don't mean with a hooker who cannot defend down the middle.'"
Totally agree with areas needing improvement. Talking of switching positions Keinhorst actually played wing before coming to Leeds to play ....maybe game time outside Watkins.....

| A left centre has to be a priority. I wouldn't be upset if we signed either Moon or Lulia as it would be an improvement on what we have there and it would mean Ablet could be moved back into the pack. Ablett is at a crucial point in his career and could well be in danger of no fullfiling his potential as a back rower if he has to spend another year filling in at centre. If we don't sign anyone I'd give Keinhorst a chance.

I agree. Interestingly in YP yesterday Lulia spoke positively about playing for the Rhinos, but not until 2014 after his Bull's contract finishes. If that is the case what's to stop GH signing him now in advance with no fee to pay? That could lead to a compromise about next season as well.

Bradford and the anti-tampering deadline. If we want to sign Lulia for 2014 without Bradford's consent we'll have to wait until September 1st.

Morris is a great player like Folau but SL can't afford them and both unfortunately will stay in NRL.

| i think we need another Senior type player. Big and strong that can take 2-3 men in the tackle and then get the ball away to Hall. Hall can score 1 on 1 almost everytime cos of his power so we need a centre big enough to do this. Im sure Leeds are close to signing a centre I hope they asked Hall what type of centre he wanted to play along side during the selection process - i guess we will see!

That's the report I saw (hence the wink), but just mentioning his availability has got posters going.
god help Englands RC in the WC if he gets back his form pre AFL.

According to the media Parra seem favourites to sign Folau. If he does sign might there then be a knock-on effect on other player(s) who might suddenly become available who might add quality to our squad?

Aye. With T Rex in the backrow and Boyd, Morris or Barba on the left wing, you wouldn't like to be defending on that side of the field. Plus the small matter of Inglis, and Uate on the right

Doesn't look too scary. Presumably they can't all be on the field at once though. 11, 12 and 13, with one on the bench maybe?

| From sky sports today Mr H states still looking for a top class centre from the NRL, but the search may go on into the start of the season. Also mentions that it may change when NRL teams come back to training and deals are finalised. But that said even with potential big signings made late (for argument sake eels get Folau and hock and need to make cap space) any real quality will be snapped up by other NRL clubs with the money they have in the aus game

GH seems to have "nailed his colours to the mast" about bringing in a top centre from the NRL but mentions it might drift past the start of the season after NRL clubs start pre season (he leaves it too late). Any thoughts, if it slips further Jack Reed is OOC at the end of 2013?

Hot air to bolster season ticket sales... again.
We're still waiting for a hooker of 'equal or better ability' than that of Danny Buderus.
Now a world class centre to add to his shopping list.
I really like GH, he has done miraculous things with this club - taking them from the brink of financial ruin to the most successful period the club has ever witnessed but he does have a tendency to come out with specifically designed statements which are for the sole purpose of increasing season ticket sales. By the start of next season all of us that intend on buying a season ticket will have already done so. My guess is that nothing will come of his Australian jaunt... again.
