| Quote ="rhinoms"So why are they crying out for access to the hearings then?????????
Do you think it's a good idea when the panel changes from week to week or the lack of consistency in punishments???
I don't and until we have a system that delivers consistent punishments to WHOEVER the culprit is or plays for i won't change my mind.'"
Because - by and large - they're tools who would much rather have a couple of hours news laid on a plate for them by Red Hall every week rather than having to go out and find it themselves.
The likes of Nosey Parker and Andy Wilson couldn't write a decent limerick on a bog wall unless someone gave them the words, let alone a column in the press.
Would you care to point out to me this inconsistency in punishments and how it contradicts with your beloved NRL system? Both systems are reliant on a group of individuals deciding what grade an offence is, establishing guilt then setting down the punishment within the ranges allowed for that grade of offence.
It's pretty much how the magistrates system works, so if it's good enough for criminal law it's good enough for me thanks.

How is it MY beloved NRL sysytem?????
As for your digs at parker and wilson i couldn't give sh#t about either of them but the likes of dave hadfield and martyn sadler i respect.
As for the proof of inconsistency just look at any of the many instances where bans have been dished out then look at the same offences when play-offs,internationals or vital CC c games are to be played!
Again we'll have to agree to disagree the system is flawed and inconsistent IMHO and the summary of the gilmour/lee smith highlighted it perfectly.

Presumably the jab was deliberate but the target was unspecified.
Perhaps in future Cunningham should nominate (like in snooker) which facial feature he is going to hit to make it clearer for the RFL judiciary to rule on.

That makes exactly zero sense.
I can hear the rant coming on Boots 'n All...."THUGBY LEAGUE!!!!"
Is it my perception or is Burger Boy Cunningham getting more violent in his old age? He lost it after the Bailey "incident" as well and tried to take Sinfields head off for no reason.

I think it occurs fairly naturally in most players to some degree. Your hero (and one of mine) while previously all pace and majesty became a bit tetchy towards the end. Come to think of it he became a bit tetchy while still at Leeds.
Even previously angelic like figures such as Francis Cummins spent time cooling his heels in the sin bin after a bout of fisticuffs at Halifax IIRC.

I dont think Peacock is a saint either, and appears to get more tetchy (as you put it) each season.

A sweet head butt on Andy Gregory in the JP semi at Bolton comes to mind.
Funnily enough, my fuse got shorter as I hit my 30's. I was the proud recipient of my first yellow card at 33 (I think it might have been the refs nephew I snotted).

Grrrhhh.
Mind you almost as annoyiog is the BBC's use of "the square in the air" for any video ref decision.

The hand off to the face is one I've wondered about for a while. Why is it we allow the attacking player to make contact with a defenders head, but not the other way round?

Probably because the hand off is basically a flat of the hand delivered front on to the face/head and isn't likely to do a great deal of damage. Using anything other than the hand (e.g. forearm/elbow) is still a penalty offence.
Most tackles are made with the upper arm/shoulder, which applies considerably more force particularly if swung into the tackle and especially if it lands/wraps around the neck area of someone running at pace.
Basic Health and Safety awareness, innit.

That still means it's possible for 2 players to make identical contact with each other and only one of them commit an offence. This all started when I saw a picture in LE of 2 players basically handing each other off and a mate commented on the fact.
If you outlawed all contact with the head you would also stop the referee having to make a judgement on what type of contact was made. It's much easier for refs to rely on facts, not opinions. OK, it SHOULD be easier

I once turned out for our company team in a local 5-a side footy league. Running down the boards with the ball I instinctively handed off the guy behind me and made a serious mess of his nose. Blood everywhere, probably broke it too. Funniest part was the ref who waved play on shouting "accidental, accidental".

| One of the best hand offs I've seen (except the 1000 or so by Alan Smith) was by Paul Anderson on Gary Connolly at Odsal.
That hand off was delivered with some force, just a pity the pass from Deacon was forward though.

It was several weeks after that theywere able to dig Connolly out of the turf at Odsal
