It was a thread to discuss Phil Clarkes comments that Wigan were bottlers if they lost another GF. Two or three comments then deleted.

If you are referring to Ferres then yes i have left him out purely on the basis that i think Bateman and Farrell are better. Just my opinion. Plus his off the field activities wouldn't do the morale of the team any good. All i have read about Ferres on this forum since he played his first game for you is about how crap he has been. He is either world class because he performed against New Zealand's 'B' team or he is dross because he has under performed against Widnes, Warrington and Catalans.'"
Between O'Loughlin and Pryce, you have the two most overrated RL players of the last 20 years right there.
- oh, with a smattering of Andy Farrell too - make that 3.

| Quote ="Cherry_Warrior"Why would i have Tomkins? Well your assumption that he has peaked is based on nothing. Presuming he comes back a better player with a fraction of the pace he had he walks all over Hardaker as he has done all his career. His attack is 10x better, his link up play is 10x better, his ability to dummy players is 10x better and his positional sense is 10x better. All in all, a much better player. Ask the England coaches who constantly overlook Hardaker. A Man Of Steel player who was very easily found out in the New Zealand tests. Sam may not have had as much as an impact as he had in SL but just saying he brings back 2 years of good NRL coaching to add to his game. He would be even better. To write him off without seeing him play is folly to do.'"
Is it based on form, potential or the heights we know they can reach?
I'f you're looking at their past history, I'd have Moon over Gelling. Whilst Gelling can do the spectacular, he's too unpredictable and can cost you the game. I'd also put McIllorum at hooker. As for the back 3, I agree with O'Loughlin and Bateman, but not sure about Farrell.
Having said all that. It's only opinions. Not sure why people have to act like it's a personal attack on a loved one.
Funny how the game prides itself on fans getting on...wouldn't think it looking on here.
Also don't get why people like to just come on to wind others up. Don't know about you, but my time is too precious to waste it just ing people off and looking for a reaction.

I agree that nobody would fancy running at O'Loughlin. But that's only because nobody wants to have their nose splattered WWE style. Ferres has not been poor. His work rate is outstanding, and he's had to do a hell of a lot of defence because we are missing a hooker, Ward and Ablett. Bateman is OK, but he was poor against "New Zealand B' (as you call it.) Ferres is England's 2nd rower, Bateman isn't. We'll leave it at that eh.

There's nobody left. It's like looking in a rubber room and seeing a guy talking to himself. That's pretty much the way the internet seems to function for a lot of people these days.

| Always appreciated what O'Loughlin brings to any side, a truly awkward opponent with lots of little interferences at the PTB that get missed by officials, strong defence, good carries and plenty of quality passes. The same posters that don't rate him either didn't rate Sinfield or display a healthy degree of hypocrisy .... Probably.
Bateman already is and is going to continue be a real thorn in everyone's side - great competitor.

Strange that. I had a thread deleted on Friday night/ Saturday morning.
I think I touched a nerve. All I did was post a very polite (seriously polite actually) thank you to the Wigan "fan" who threw a bottle at my partner and myself for missing us by a foot or so.
I would guess that they wouldn't want to pull their heads out of their stuffed behinds and deal with it.

Mate you starting to sound like some of them on their board!
SO'L is still a great player, even though he should never play for England again with Burgess at 13
Bateman is great 2nd row also, not his fault Mcbanana put him in the centres, he and Ward should be england 11 and 12 for a long time, perfect match of aggression and skill (unless Ward gets moved to 9 or something)
The reason we don't like them is because they clearly get told by the coach to lie on and throw shots that will (knowingly) bounce up off the chest, nothing to do with their playing ability really

Totally agree, though right now that would make quite a lightweight second row

Ward won't play 2nd row again. He'll be in the loose, once fit. Bateman is lightweight at the top level. As he showed against NZ

Not sure. Depends who is fit when he comes back. I imagine his first game or two back will be off the bench. If all props are fit I can see Singleton staying there for most of the year.

I think 13 is singletons best position, Ward should use this year to find his, mentioned it a few times now but would love to see him spell at 9 to see how he goes

Can see the thinking behind it but tough to try it after returning mid-season from such a serious injury in such a pivotal position. If for arguments sake they did have ideas for him to play there then would be smarter to save it for 2017 and having time in pre-season to learn the position.

Thats why I said spell, when Falloon goes off for abit Id like to see him go to 9 for a bit instead of Burrow or Lilly (they can still come on but to play as a 3rd half not at 9), if he bombs out of DH we know that we need to sign a hooker for 2017 or resign Falloon

| When everyone is fit, Ferres and Ablett should nail down the 2nd row, with JJB & Delaney getting reduced minutes. That still leaves Walters and Achurch. I can see the thinking behind giving Ward a go at 9, but we need to see what Falloon brings. Ward is a better 13 than Singo. He's a starting prop for me alongside Cuthbertson, with Garbutt and Galloway off the bench.

yes i reckon that will be the back three if we ever manage to get a fully fit back row this year. Achurch is clearly playing out his last year with us and Walters still has a long way to imo before being a fixture in the 17 when everyone is available. I certainly don't think we will be going down the route of Ward at Hooker, he was developing into one of the best back rows in the competition before injury and will surely continue that development when he returns.
