JJB looked gutted in his presser when they told him GH had said there would be announcement next week.

Fair play to GH he keeps his cards close to his chest. If i was a betting man my 50p would go on Rohan Smith but we will see. That is based on nothing tho.

Think this is another example of poor leadership from GH in the way this has come out. Whatever we think of JJB he deserved to be briefed by GH not find out second hand. We don't know if its an appointment for next season or immediately available or who is being retained from the current management team.The whole process seems a very amateurish way to go about things for one of the biggest clubs in the game.

Amateurish is just in keeping with lots of things at the club over the last few years, wouldnt expect this process to be any different.

Keep employing people you like, or people you know, or people who played for the club, over people actually qualified with a track record of success, and this is what you get, we'r the laughing stock of Rugby League at the minute and have been far too often over the last few year.

Lets see what GH comes up with this time.

Agree with you and the others. Very poor management, could easily lead to JJB being distracted for the next week and out of respect for the work he has done, JJB deserved to be told before the corporate customers.

We can only assume Gary was successful in appointing someone from his recent trip to Oz then? Given that he only came back on Tuesday and then runs his mouth about a coach announcement on the Thursday.

Maybe it's just the continual run of years of disappointment but I can't help but be pessimistic about this appointment.

Unfortunately whoever it is will probably start at the bottom of the league after Monday, with a host of injuries in the backs with Walker added to that list now and with a run of 6 difficult away games on the bounce just over the horizon.

But it will be a fresh start for everyone and we will have to see how it goes.

Im feeling the same, theres no guarantee with any coach, but i just want someone with a track record of improving teams they've coached at, not even bothered by the trophys they have or havnt won, just getting teams playing better than the sum of there parts, improving them, getting them punching above their weight, a clear playing style... if thats in the NSW or Queensland cup, then so be it.

The safest bet is Tony Smith imo, as much as i want to move past the past and get a fresh face with no Leeds history, atleast his Leeds history is based on being a good coach, the job he'd be actually doing, so wouldnt be against Tony, although its unlikely to be him.

I reckon we will announce Ward as our new coach.

Whoever is the next coach they need to move on from the past and that means moving on the likes of JJB, Davidson et al.

I'm sure there's been plenty of discussions behind the scenes and away from our ears. Both within the club and speaking to potential coached before Gary went to Aus.

But the thing that gets me is how unprepared we were. The writing was on the wall that this was going to be Agar's last season. And the club should have seen the end coming for weeks. There looks to have been contingency planning for the end of the season, let alone as the abject performances were churned out. LUFC (sorry Marty) seem to have planned for Bielsa going and already made contact with Marsch months ago.

It seems like this has illustrated how the rugby side of things is being run and an expectation that things will just work themselves out. We've seen it with signings and contract renewals for years and that seems to be the DNA of the club

Considering he got his uk interviews completed in 24 hours after returning there obviously were not many UK based candidates.Either that or its not a very lengthy interview.

I think that is the evidence - one of the reporters said GH had said something to that effect. While I agree GH should talk to JJB first before letting anyone else know, an announcement has to be made soon so everyone knows what's going on.

Someone mentioned JJB staying under a new coach. Unless the new guy has complete freedom with all these support staff I doubt we'd get the best available. A new coach wouldn't have a complete gang of assistants ready to come with them, but they need to be given absolute backing to build their support staff as they see fit.

Like mattsrhinos, I’d much prefer Tony Smith than any other realistic UK based option.

Just watched the Hull derby, he has made HKR into a good outfit . Their team today was riddled with guys discarded by other teams and championship players picked up. On paper you would have expected FC to murder them upfront.

Tony Smith is the only UK based coach I would have any interest in whatsoever, and I’d be very happy if he were to return.
