Really does need to be a proper prop or two incoming. Interested to see Thompson saying how much enjoyed playing in his preferred position of second row on Friday. Said he'd played his entire career there and only when he arrived at Leeds was he moved into the dreaded "middle."

Spot on mate.
I`ve been saying for ages a Kasiano or Paasi type player is just what we need.

Is this your hope or have you had some info?
With Harry Newman, Liam Sutcliffe, Levi Edwards, Max Simpson and also possibly Zak Hardaker at the club for 2023 and who are all able to cover the centre position
IMO this would be a luxury overseas signing that we don't really need, unless the club want experienced cover but for only a season before the young kids step up.
We need to prioritise signing overseas players very wisely as we don't need any squad fillers, That's what our academy is for
The clubs main priority for 2023 is to sign a meter munching prop in the Kylie Leuluai or Ava Seumanafagai mould.
I'm hoping that Rohan Smith has a few players in mind that would be suited to SL as there are plenty of talented players in the lower grades in Australia

I’ve not seen much of Lafai but he looked to have a bit of class when I have seen him.
Like most A decent prop looks priority 1 to me but getting a player with some class/attacking threat is priority 2 for mine.
Not saying he is the answer but we are behind the curve again on recruitment and at his best I think he would be a first choice centre with Newman.

| Lafai would be a no for me too. We’ve got an abundance of talent in that position and I’d of rather kept Broadbent than use a quota spot for that position

| Just watch the Warrington game if you need more evidence of what we need. Nice ball movement and good involvement from everybody.....but no real power up front. Not a single prop who looks like breaking a tackle through brute strength, and rolled up the field in defence by an equally lighweight Wire pack. We can beat a lot of sides with that team plus Newman etc, but Catalans and Sts will probably just overpower us again, and on heavier pitches/wet weather we'll be vulnerable to other sides with size in the middle.
One thing the Wire game did show was that while we may lack individual speedsters, when the whole team is moving up in support that matters far less, and everyone looks a yard quicker.

We absolutely need a centre. We only have Newman.
Nurture the likes of Edwards and Simpson - sure.
Sutcliffe is never a centre in a month on Sundays.

We definitely need a centre. Briscoe has had the finger pointed at him but you don't know how well he's played as he's been 2 years without a decent centre. Props do set platforms but the don't win games. Newman plus another good centre with maybe Sutcliffe as back up is a minimum. We can't keep playing 2nd rowers there.

| But in a salary cap sport you look at your requirements in a list format. Given what we have, what we don’t have and what may be developing then centre isn’t as pressing as a prop x2, a hard running back rower who is a game changer and potentially a quality half back.
If we can recruit two top line props, a quality back rower then I am all for getting a centre but it wouldn’t be my priority.

| I'd love to have a better option than Sutcliffe, but we have a couple of kids in Edwards and Simpson who will be next to get a chance, and I'd rather not block them by signing another centre (that's assuming Broadbent is on his way). Two props ought to be the priority, with other positions only considered once we have them sorted.

| A quality centre is an absolute must and the first thing we need to address imho.
Not replacing Hurrell was criminal and I’d be prepared to loose Martin if we need the quota spot. I know he kicks, but so does Hardaker and Sezer.

Totally agree.
Going and spending big money on a centre would be crazy and suggests we don't expect any of Broadbent, Edwards or Simpson to make it.
Stating the blindingly obvious again, but prop is the priority.

| I’m not saying we don’t need props too, but we basically create nothing for our wingers from centre. We can’t compete and it’s a waste of time having good finishers as we are…..

Don't think it's nuts. We could really benefit from a quality left centre, but as you say props are the most critical issue. Prior and Tet have got a lot of stick this season, and maybe rightly so. However they (also Oledzki) are massively overstretched. Our only other authentic prop has managed less than 30 games in four seasons in the first team squad, so even next year, when he is hopefully neither injured nor banned, he still won't be far out of the novice category. We need to be in the position where he (Holroyd) is our 6th option rather than our 4th. If he can start to deliver on his potential and force his way into our first choice prop quartet, it would be great, but it would be foolish to count on it.
