Leon Pryce was spared being on the defeated Bulls side in 2004 after he dislocated his shoulder, ironically in the win against Leeds in the Qualifying Semi Final two weeks before the final.
His losses were for the Bulls V St Helens in 1999 and 2002 and V Leeds while at St Helens 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Nothing wrong with that IMO, If I were coach I'd want him protected as much as possible defensively, so he can be at his freshest with the ball, a la Harris at Fullback in the Graham Murray era

20 or not he is playing a professional sport and should then behave in a professional manner. Fact is fans will always mindlessly give opposition fans the big licks but that unfortunately is part and parcel of the game. When i was 20 and at Uni I worked for one of the biggest banks in the UK in their mortgages team. i used to get f-ed and jeffed at on a daily basis because I worked on arrears cases. Just because I was 20 at the time didn't mean I reacted the same way, I acted in a professional manner just like i do now as a high ranking member of a companies IT team that obviously get similar treatment when people don't get what they want.
End of the day, if the fan in question is over stepping the mark they will get removed

As one of your fans has confirmed, Sam was spat at which is quite possibly one of the most vile things that someone can do.. if that aint overstepping the mark, well im not sure what is.
Yes Lockers didnt let him go over to the fan ( who most probably ran off or something along those lines) but Tomkins was never going to do a Cantona.

| Quote ="The Magic Rat"I had a great view and it was digusting behaviour by the Leeds fan and immaturity on Tomkins behalf.
As the Wigan players were heading for the tunnel they were getting plenty of good natured stick from the Leeds fans in that area. This mainly took the form of waves from the crowd, as in bye bye your out of the cup. Some fans were also giving verbals and one in particular was drawing a reaction with whatever he was saying(i was to far away to hear). A few Wigan players gave him a stare but Tomkins stopped and made to walk over towards him. At this point the Leeds fan spat at Tomkins. Tomkins then headed towards him but was restained by O'Loughlin who pulled him back and wrestled him away(something he had been perfecting for the previous 80 minutes).
Not a pretty sight and probably something done in the heat of the moment by both player and fan. O'Loughlin's actions were impressive. I didn't see him even make eye contact with the fan concerned, he just made sure his player was removed from the situation.'"
To be honest if that's what the "fan" did I wouldn't have begrudged Tomkins giving him a slap.

| Tomkins is a petulant young runt and from this day forward shall be know as PYR.
I wish I’d recorded the rant that some bog-brusher unleashed on me when I pointed out (to my missus) that Senior had steamrollered Tomkins. I wasn’t even talking to this to[size=100s[/sizeser but he took it upon him self to but his unwanted conk into my conversation and point our the young Sam would stand up to any player and that I ‘didn’t know what I was f*cking on about’ and that ‘he was better than that sh*thouse McGuire’ also that I ‘shouldn’t even be stood in their end’!
Literally all I said was “Senior just steamrollered Tomkins”.
A-hole
Over the past few years I have had more unprovoked attacks (verbally & physically) from Wigan fans than any other travelling support.

Cheers fella. I agree, as I think would most decent supporters.
In my early days (a long, long time ago) I was at Station Road watching Swinton v Wigan. This Swinton "supporter" was giving Billy Boston a really hard time "bl**k b**t**d, bl**k t**t bl**k c**t etc etc)
At half time Billy jumped over the wall (just to have a quiet word this the "man"icon_wink.gif followed by two Wigan forwards trying to stop Billy.
It is rumoured that Swinton tried to contact their supporter to offer him trials, as he was the fastest man they had ever seen.
Slightly off topic, we had a really good day out (apart from the result) and had a great discussion both in your supporters club before the game and on the Western terrace. I believe the club will no longer be in use after the end of this season. Why?

If he continues to build a rep for been the petulant little child he is then he has to expect more of this treatment

The club will be demolished and incorporated within the new South stand as i understand it although Admiral Nelson is the poster in the know.

I like to think of myself as a "decent" type who can appreciate other teams class players.
but I do have a problem with the lad.
when he first appeared on the scene I thought he was an exciting talent along with young Eastmond at Saints.
but compare the development of the two over the season so far.
The first is becoming rather petulant and a IMHO a wee bit bigheaded ...not qualities I would hold with the true class player.
compare that with the attitude and style of the young Saints player and therein lies the problem for me.

Tomkins and Eastmond are about as petulent as each other when you compare them to the attitude shown by McGuire and Burrow at a similar stage.

Ripping the ball off Burrow at Knowsley Road when it was Leeds' head and feed at a scrum and exclaiming in front of the referee 'it's our f**king ball' or words to that effect. The referee had little option but to award a penalty to Leeds.
That's a prominent one, I'm sure there are others.
There's an edge to both of them that needs controlling if they want to fulfil their undoubted potential.

What a shame. We've been going there for years and always been well treated and had great rugby conversations with the Leeds fans. Saturday was no exception.
We'll have to find another watering hole now (after July of course)

| I personally just dont think Tomkins has the same level of talent as Eastmond.
I just dont see it. Eastmond looks dangerous everytime i see him, and has played in a variety of positions, Tomkins is an out and out SO but at the moment i dont think he offers even half of what Mcguire does.
I hope im wrong and he really is the real deal and a world class stand off that will lead England for years to come, but i havent seen anything that tells me he will ever be in Mcguires class. I wouldnt be suprised if he ended up as the next Kevin Brown

| Tomkins (S) had a bucket load of potential last season as did Eastmond – it just seams that Kyle has kicked on and made the extra step and now looks as if he could grace any SL team. Tomkins on the other had has a devastating side step but that’s about it. Defensively he is weak and doesn’t seem to have made the transition from promising prospect to SL star.
It may take a little longer for the lad to acclimatise to the standards that Eastmond has already achieved but I just don’t see the same player that the bog-brushers do at the moment.
