| Sinfield said last season, there is a lot of the salary cap sat in the stands, issue is, same players again out injured sat in the stands. I fully understand what individuals on here are saying, and as a club Leeds have a duty of care to their players. I also believe that some players have the slightest knock and they are missing for 6 weeks. When Ward plays we are a much better team, problem is he, like others do spend a lot of the season sat in the stands as opposed to on the pitch. No easy answer but at this stage of the season some players do play with knocks some are happy to sit in the stands, it just seems that Ward is constantly injured, no doubt he isn't, but looking back over his career he does seem to get a mid season rest. Sometimes you have to make that decision renew his contract or let him go, personally if he has another bad year with injuries next season then let him go at the end of his contract.

Which is an entirely sensible approach, ‘get rid now’ isn’t
Didn’t JJB go through similar when he was younger? He turned out OK

The duty of care is quite simply to not let him play again.

In your uneducated on the subject opinion. For the others, he is back in four weeks.

| Indeed you are correct(only one though).
Seriously though do people think Ward is going to come back in four weeks and play to super league pace.It would take him another month to get anyway near,IF he gets back

Yes you are 100% correct, and as he points out, he was always fit as a fiddle at the end of the season , that's why by missing half of the season he has continued to play until age 38. if he would not have had any injuries he would have retired at age 30.

JJB Injuries where when he was very young and still in academy under 21 (A team) apart from a couple of bad injuries he has been pretty fit rest if his career, Ward has been considerably more injury prone, year onvtear he onoy plays at hest 40% of games, played like 30% last year and looks like he will only play 4 games this year, his contract can be terminated as is essentially not fit fir work. They did yhus to Darren afleary and other clubs have done it. Give him a sweetener payoff to terminate his contract, and often get somone else in, enough is enough he is crocked.

Would like to see Stevie stay as he's a great player, Lolohea, Ablett and Crosby on the other hand

| If the club put minimum fitness requirements in place there'd be a few who could be 'performance managed' out of the club. I'd rather focus on getting rid of them than on one of our few quality players with injury problems. The club may have to look at some form of contract based on appearances for Ward once his current one expires, but even more likely is just to offer him one year at a time.

| I understand Carl Ablett may be forced to retire following complications with his latest operation. If true, he has been very unfortunate! An infection and blood clot almost meant worse consequences.
I believe under medical protocols you can’t take the field whilst on blood thinning medication. But I’m sure that’s the least of his worries.

Been told the same. Gutting way to go out for him if true, but we can request an exemption on the cap as he hasn’t played this season.

Wasn't he planning to move to Aus before Kev convinced him not to retire? I'd imagine that move maybe back on if he can't play anymore.

I thought part of his move was to play semi pro when he got to Aus.
Good luck to him - he has made a huge contribution to the success of the club during the glory years

| Very sad way to end if this news about Carl Ablett is correct, made some big contributions in some big games, particularly when he played at centre after senior retired.
Don't know him personally but a mate of mine who i only see couple of times a year does, understand he has been training as a plumber for some time, last winter he stayed in aus with Joel moon and his family. Moon family business is in building trade.
If he is heading down under wish him and family all the best

| Ablett has been a great player over the years & imo very under-rated especially at centre.
Its never nice to be forced into retirement but the signs have been there for 18mths his body just wasnt up to it.
Good luck down under if he is to re-visit that option.
