The number of yongsters Wigan released over the years - that's a large number.

The number of those that would get into the current Wigan side, that's a very small number.

How do you expect a club like Wigan to afford an alleged transfer fee of 300K for Rangi Chase if they didn't offload a load of youngsters to pay for the deal?

The fee received for Joel Tomkins to Rugby Union will pay the majority of it.

Instead of wasting the Tomkins income on someone like Rangi Chase why not put it towards a deposit so you can buy yourself a stadium?

And for someone from Leeds to question stadia is laughable, how's the South Stand rebuild coming on?
When will the Western terrace be finished?
When's the North Stand/cricket stand going to be started?
Has the pitch been relaid yet?

The problems and delays in developing one's own stadium are nothing compared to the problems of not having a stadium of one's own to develop. Fortunately Leeds have been able to put a little aside over recent years so we aren't in Wigan's position.

How much would you boys give not to be shacked up as tenants in a football stadium, taking none of the non-RL income and being bossed around by Dave Whelan? How much would you have given to have been able to redevelop Central Park rather than where you are now? I can imagine the answer will be a protestation of how happy you are with your current arrangements. But we know that's not true.

In fairness that's nothing to do with the rugby gods and everything to do with being incredibly successful - you're a Wigan fan, you can remember what being incredibly successful is like, just think back 17 years or so...

Headingley may not be the best stadium in RL but at least it's a RL stadium.

And it's ours. It's happily sat in the "assets" part of our financial accounts. Wigan's has "Sam Tomkins move to Sarries", then "nil".

By my reckoning Leeds have the 6th best RL Stadium in the SL.

Whilst new and much better stadiums are great for the sport i think its important to keep one or two 'oldies' in the league that has history. With Castleford and Wakefield hoping to move to new stadiums in the future (lets not have a debate about that particular subject) then the number of historical grounds will dwindle further. It would be great if the South Stand and Western Terrace could be brought up to the same quality of the Eastern Terrace/Carnegie Stand sometime in the new future. If/When they do i think it'll be right back up to one of the top stadiums as you'll have great Stands mixed with the history and atmosphere.

I dont think its the first time we have had this sort of thing from a SECTION of Wigan fans,does anyone remember Lee Crooks getting jeered and baited when he was being taken off after a serious injury?
Regarding Headingley being redeveloped,I thyink they are going to coninue to get wet through on the western terrace for many years yet.

Salford don't own their new ground.

The point being that having your own stadium allows one to gain income from it, rather than fork out for it.

However so humble, there's no place like home etc.

Any idea what Wigan's terms are for corporate and non-ticket/retail income at the DW? The non gameday stuff is good, but squeezing the gameday income is critical.
