One thing that`s baffling is the appointment of JJB over Long who has more experience coaching unless you add Staningley to JJB`s CV.
I`m not saying Long is better just that he has more experience.

Call me sentimental but I think he'll secure a good appointment. A lot riding on this and I think a series of sharp slaps around the chops will have restored his focus. If they were really going to do this on the cheap I doubt he'd have got on a plane at all.

I'm with Arthur. Not just on cheapness but just the fact GH has made a big deal about travelling to Australia to interview coaches in the middle of a crisis suggests he knows he needs to come up with someone convincing, and they are almost certainly currently based in Australia. If he came back empty-handed he would personally be a laughing-stock.

Not in the middle of the season with a view to interviewing coaches, which is what he said before he left. He normally goes off-season and hands out Heritage Certificates.

Does his daughter know any good coaches or Props!

She probably has more idea than he does these days!

If we end up hiring someone from the UK then GH has officially become a joke, and the club with it. The only exception would be if he can't get anyone till next season, but then we run the real risk of relegation under the current basket case setup.

You would wonder why candidates based here were not interviewed before he headed down under. Its not like its a big list of people

Exactly, without wanting to over react to the report, we do seem to make an absolute pigs ear of most things these days.

I think there’s s lot of over reaction going on, especially on twitter.

If hed have waited to interview uk candidates there would have been people saying he should have gone straight to Aus, yet people are moaning hes gone there first.

Seen people saying why did Saints and Hull appoint people quicker when in reality they took longer. People saying its tje most important appointment since TS but moaning that he isn’t rushing it.

He is not going to give a running commentary on his interviews it would be highly unprofessional.

Were just going to have to wait and see and hope he gets it right. It’s highly frustrating but it’s only been 3 weeks.

Just watched the 30 minute ‘special’ on the Leeds crisis that’s available to download on Sky, it’s actually pretty good with surprisingly quite a lot if sense spoken from both Wilkin and JJB

The GH of years gone by would never have felt compelled to deliver stakeholder updates to hysterical fans. He'd have just gone about the job of hiring a coach and then announced it. The cycle of failure over the last few years has changed that dynamic, and in my opinion, he is now over communicating to a very pessimistic fan base. He can't win. My glass half full scenario is that we have someone lined up in Oz and are now looking to SL for real quality in assistant coaches. Don't really want to consider glass half empty.

This is a complete no win situation. He was never going to come back with anyone in tow, simply because anyone decent already has a job. Then there's the visa requirement to satisfy and we all know that takes weeks with Rugby League in this country. The best he was ever going to do was to agree a deal for next year for someone, or at the outside get someone to come over in a few months when things are sorted out.

Arthur is spot on, the current situation, an almost lemming like suicidal fanbase, and the advent of social media means we all want an instant solution to a problem that simply doesn't have one. The quickest realistic longer term solution would be Tony Smith and Danny McGuire but even that's not realistic until the end of the season at best.

What did people expect?

I’ve just watched this too, it’s excellent. Just underlines that JJB (who with your eyes closed might as well be an inexperienced coach version of BMD) understands the reality, he knows what’s wrong. Equally it’s beyond him to fix right now and I think he knows this.

Wilkin was also spot on that our recruitment has been very poor for 5 or 6 years, we’ve done things on the cheap for far too long. Along with some genuine quality signings, What we need is a few JJB’s, who will push through pain, who will whoop and holler when someone makes a big tackle, and who will drive up the energy and enthusiasm, and that comes from our youth.

We need to cut the poor performing experienced players, and there’s plenty, it’s time for GH to be ruthless again.

If we are now set to interview "European" candidates what the hell was we doing for 2 weeks before going to Australia?

Exactly. It looks hopelessly amateurish to make a big deal about interviewing in Australia only to turn around and decide he needs to talk to people in England. I wonder if word is out in Aus that Leeds are a basket-case? Or maybe some potential coaches would turn the job down if they're forced to work with the likes of JJB and Agar and not have complete freedom over staff? In any event all this could have been raised and discussed via phone calls rather than a mid-season trip at the club's expense.
