The financial issue is that if there's no or little play on the 1st 4 days, refunds are available.
If there's no play on the 5th day for whatever reason you've lost your money.
Discounting the weather, on the playing side neither side lokks capable of consistently taking the 20 wickets needed to win a test, so on that score play on the 5th day looks very probable.
Nevertheless I'm going to get a ticket for the 5th day shortly.
I'd hate ( having gone to the 1st 4 days) to miss a possible England victory on the 5th.
An Aussie victory at any stage though would be hard to take!

Sit somewhere else if you don't like it. 95% of people on the Western Terrace seem to enjoy the atmosphere. I think people need to stop being such whiny bee-atches. Apparently 81 people were ejected last year against South Africa. I wondcer how many were ejected for offences more serious than building towers of plastic pint pots or possession of a beach ball?

They should just designate the WT as the party stand and have done with it. I've had some great days on there. I'm not sure you can complain (as YCCC are doing) about how drunk people get, while remaining more than happy to reap the enormous cash takings resulting from selling alcohol to them all day......

Yeah, they've taken extra measures this year though like shutting the bar for parts of the day which is stupid! I also think they haven't put themselves in the shoes of the spectator. Do you expect every single one of them to sit there in silence all day, applaud the rivals and be on their best behaviour? No, simply because 5 day cricket isn't entertaining enough to watch a full 7hours of it without having something else to keep you entertained.

Nail on head - if they treated sports grounds in the same manner as they do all licensees (ie pub landlords) then hardly any of them would hold a licence - how many pubs do you know who still have licenses when they have to employ large numbers of security guards to control their clients and still eject 81 of them ?

Spot checks on under age drinkers and serving intoxicated customers ? Forget it in sports grounds, if your a pub landlord though then prepare to lose your job.

Why is the behaviour on the WT so much worse than any other test ground? It suggest the people watching there are incapable of controlling what they drink - which is a pretty sad indictment of supposed adults?

Being on the WT reminds me of one other similar event the CC final - where the vast majority of the supporters seem to have a problem sitting in their seat for more than 5 minutes without the need for either another drink or the toilet!!!!

Or put another way a load of northerners who can't take their beer at a major sporting event - sad really

I wasn't being rowdy though, I just couldn't stand up. The ground staff were good enough to put me in a taxi home.
