I hope nobody is rested next week for this game. They all deserve to be out there flogging themselves after that appalling performance.

There’s no point flogging players who are not good enough, they won’t get any better by being flogged. Play the kids, rest the ones who are crucial like Merrin and Hurrell, and do some straight talking with the rest telling them that their performances over the next 6 weeks will determine if they are still at the club next year.

Players that need resting against Workington are.

Walker, Hurrell, Merrin, Dwyer. Those four have been our best players. IMO, and wouldn’t like to think what would happen if Hurrel and Merrin get injured in this game.

Agreed - this is an unnecessary diversion from the task in hand

Whoever plays, they should go into this game with the primary objective of nilling the opposition. This way it could serve as much needed full-contact defensive training. Whatever they are doing about it off the field in actual training does not seem to be working.

After last nights showing in defence, all the squad should spend this 7 to 10 days on defence training & extra fitness. Treat it as a 3 sessions a day mini preseason. The earliest anyone of them should touch a rugby ball is next Thursday.

As for the game against Workington. Rest Walker/Hurrell/Dwyer/Merrin

I'd be saying to last night's team, "You are all playing v Workington, get out and destroy the part-time opposition and show some pride in defending your line". If they fail then it's time to move those failures on. The game should be no more than an additional training session to full time professionals. That is the key question, are the current players true professionals with pride, desire and commitment?

I said it on the match thread after the first two tries. They need to go back to basics of the boring but vital working for each other. We look an absolute rabble and it really should be addressed.

After that shocking performance last night hope Furner rips into the players who constantly hide and turn out poor performances each week. Hope we Rest Hurrell,Merrin and Dwyer for definite ( as they are only ones who deserve a break to rest up ahead of a difficult super league season ahead and probably pull us out of the **** themselves). This CC round is ideal to rest Walker's body as well as physical he isn't quite ready yet to take the full brunt of Super League week in week out, Keep Myler out as well because if he picked up a bad injury that's our organisation and playmaking gone full stop( and I know it's bad when Myler is our main half back to lead us round as half of time don't think he knows what he's doing). Wouldn't risk Ablett or Crosby even if they were back for this game, Ward,Holroyd and now Smith out injured so they wouldn't be playing. Oldezki and Handley get a week off just to see how other players get on. If I was Furner I'd say first thing Monday morning if anyone who doesn't perform against a league 1 side then you won't be playing Super League until further notice ( apart from the young players who are drafted in such as Mclelland, Newman and Johnson)and stick by that decision (unless injurys and suspension occur).
