| Quote ="batleyrhino"For the first time since the introduction of RL on Sky I turned the game off with 10 mins to go in disgust at the second half performance of Leeds. Wigan were magnificent and showed how to play the game, whilst Leeds looked like a poor collection of individuals.
So who is responsible for this shambolic performance? Well the players have to take their fair share of the blame, with only Buderus coming out of tonight with any real credit. He's by far our best player and sadly it looks like he might have picked up a serious injury. We are simply not the same outfit (I don't feel I want to use the word team) without him on the pitch.
Having said that about the players what about the Coach. A coach has the biggest impact in the pre match speech and at half time, just what did McClennan say to the Leeds players at half time??? We were already on the slide during the latter stages of the first half, but the second half was appauling.
During the whole game Leeds completion rate was terrible for a "top" team, and our discipline was woeful. All this months after it was identified as a priority "fix" by our esteemed coach.
IMHO we have been papering over the cracks in recent weeks by scraping home in games which we should have won in much more comfortable fashion.
If coaches judge their success on performance rather than results then our current incumbent must be waiting for his P45 after a season full of disappointment.
It will be interesting to see if he is "rewarded" with a contract extension going into the final year of his current deal...'"
The team is joint top of the table so not sure what more McClennan can do given the troops at his disposal.
The Senior players have to take a big chunk of the blame
Sinfield's attempt at a tackle for the first 2 Wigan trys was shambolic - embarassing is probably more apt. Senior's first half display was woeful and his offload at the start of the 2nd half which turned the game was stupid. The penalties given away by McGuire and JJB - unacceptable
Penalties - we are simply dumb with some we give away - Ali's when we had the pressure was unforgiveable
McClennan - I am his biggest fan but selecting 17 and only playing 16 is just ridiculous - taking Buderus off when we had the game controlled was also a big mistake IMO - Diskin is a very poor substitute
We lost it happens - we will still finish top 2

Other than the first few and last few words, and changing a few names and deleting "biggest fan", what you have just written could have been written about most Bradford games this season.
The difference is those first and last words.
You are complaining about precisely what we have been complaining about. Yet you are 2nd and we are 12th. Suggests maybe some of you are falling into the same trap Bulls fans did - of always expecting to win and win well? Bulls regularly used to win games without playing well - and sometimes we would lose them to a team who played better. I'd suggest you have a long way worse to get before you need to really start worrying!

Obviously I can't speak for others, but I don't expect to win each game, in truth I expect to see us improve throughout the season to peak for the big games. This season we have continuously made the same fundamental errors (ball control and discipline) all year with very little improvement.
I expect performance, results are secondary and will look after themselves if the performance is right.

| We should NEVER take Buderus off, just about every time he has been subbed off in recent weeks we collapse, he comes back on we escape. He went his entire Aussie career playing 80 mins but now we decide to spell him for Disko? Sadly it doesn't look like we'll have any option as the injury looked bad.
Wigan always beat us once a season but not when it really matters (P.Offs, CC etc)

| Buderus HAD to be subbed,he was struggling before the match and was out way before the team doing a fitness test,so it was inevitable he would be subbed.
The biggest things out of this match for me were woeful defending,p#ss poor discipline and our coach playing only 16 men then publicly admitting he "didn't see how to get the other sub into the game"!
Plus we were totally outplayed in the 2nd half.

You evidently have an extremely low opinion of RL in general if you are categorising Wigan and their performance as "2nd rate".
Take a straw poll of neutrals and most will say they were thoroughly entertained watching last nights game.
I expect very few will see Wigan as "second rate".
Maybe you should consider reversing the lobotomy?

Buderus was obviously not match fit yet still had a brilliant game. At Birch services he had to carryout some stretching exercises in the car park and then had a mini fitness test before the warm up session. Everyone of us needs to pray that his substitution was partly precautionary because without him our "three in a row" quest is over!

It's the senior players that are giving the penaties away.
Didn't Danny M give 4 away?
4 penaties in a match!
and it's all down to tiredness.

Scoreless halves by Leeds in 2009:
Bradford Away 2nd Half
Harlequins Home 1st Half (and all but the final 60 seconds of the 2nd also)
Huddersfield Home 1st Half
Wigan Away 2nd Half
Half time to Result:
Winning at Half Time - Won 12, Lost 2 (Les Catalans (A), Wigan (A))
Losing at Half Time - Lost 5, Won 4 (Hull KR (A), Huddersfield (H), Wakefield (A), Hull KR (H))
Drawing at Half Time - won 0, Lost 1 (Bradford (A))

| We lost to the better team on the night, it is allowed you know.
Notwithstanding the result, the game was exciting and Wigan deserve huge praise for their 'Big One' campaign. Easy to be cynical etc but they got 20k+ in on a Friday night. Great atmosphere, plenty of noise etc

| The second half was very very poor. Diskin's service from acting half was dreadful. I'm a fan of his, and I wasn't overly impressed by the signing of Buderus, but TBH he's playing like an NL hooker at best. Some of his passing was woefully slow and misdirected. That hurts the whole team. Near the end the penalties just became a joke as Leeds clearly stopped trying some time before then.

For the only areas that can be significantly improved is dissent, off side and in and around the ruck.
We did not give any penalties for dissent, Off-side is unforgiveable - I think we only gave one penalty away - it is around the ruck - we seem very slow at moving away from the tackle the likes of JJB and Ablett appear to be very slow.
The only problem with that is the ref's lack of consistency - IMO Leeds have been on the end of some pretty poor reffing where different interpretations have been applied to the opposition. The penalty awarded against McGuire for interference when he trying to take avoiding action as the winger jumped for the ball is the type of 50/50 decision that has gone against us.

Either JJB or McGuire although I am not sure how many of the penalties given against McGuire were for holding down - one certainly wasn't holding down
