Clarkson joins widnes for 2015 on season loan.

Ben White has signed for Swinton Lions from 2015. Another academy player leaving, with Brad England joining Salford Red Devils.

White was stuck behind the incumbent half-backs, and with Jordan Lilley nipping at his heels behind. Hard to see where he was going to progress at Leeds, and by all accounts he did well on loan at the back end of last season.

England is an odd one. Looked the kind of line-breaking back rower that Leeds are lacking, so I'd be interested to know how much of an effort the club put in to keeping him.

Your a young half back - no matter how well you perform you are not going to get picked above Sinfield/McGuire no matter how well you play. Same goes for a second row and JJB, same goes for a winger etc. Too many players at Leeds getting picked on past performances rather current form

I'd normally agree with Andy Gilder's sentiments rather than Sal's but the current coach has shown a real lack of faith in his junior players. It's hard to see his giving youth it's opportunity when he relies so heavily on his senior players (with some justification).

See Robbie Ward and Brad Singleton warming the bench whilst 12 old fella's lose a lead by way of example.

On the 3/4 occasions we have left resources on the bench we didn't win any of those games. That says everything.

We also lost a few when we didn't. Which perhaps says even more.

According to Nave 'Dozey' Parker in today's Leeg Weakly, Leeds are nailed on to sign Shaun Lunt as a replacement for Paul Aiton who is about to be shown the Headingley exit door as soon as his two year ban is confirmed.

Yippee another guy to sit on the bench until one of Sinfield/McGuire/Burrow decide to call it a day

Would Lunt be much of an improvement? He sounds to have been pretty underwhelming, given that his name barely features in this thread from the Hudds board. And that in a team that can be argued to have underachieved even more than ours. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=575040&start=40

However, under the present regime it does not matter how good he is. We all know Burrow will still be selected there as first choice regardless of his actual suitability in that role.

I agree. IMO Lunt is a better Hooker than both Aiton and Burrow.

Oh - OK. I thought he was contracted for just one year with an extension option that Leeds Rugby could invoke after the first year.

He was excellent at the start of the season but seems to have struggled with injury as the season has gone on I think.

I watched Daryl Clarke in the Cas playoff game & was very unimpressed with his passing from dummy half. He has terrific pace against poorly set marker(s) but there are other aspects of his game where Lunt is better.

Early season thought Akron looked ok early season. But still prefer Lunt to Aiton.

Yes I noticed that too.
His passing was not very crisp and slowed down the attack on more than a few times.
Still think he is behind Roby and the thug from Wigan

I said before, Aiton should get back to Aus, call ASADA and look for the same deal his Sharks teammates got. Its not his fault he wasn't within ASADA's jurisdiction when they cut deals. If he waits for ASADA he could well end up with a worse ban, but it would be very hard for ASADA to explain why they didn't offer Aiton the same deal as Gallen and co.
