the lls is a nice to have, its not on the level of a CC or GF win. And nor should it be. You can have only one champion.

| Quote ="thebloodbath"From his injury problems.
He's worked hard to get into that Warrington team and he seems to be staying there on merit. Barely putting a foot wrong, looking solid. Tackling everything, mopping up well. Tony Smith seems to be getting through to him.
Nice to see him steam into Fifita after the high tackle on Sandow. Lots of energy and posturing but nothing really happened
whilst leeds are thinking about playing London, he will be preparing for Wembley. Funny old game.'"
Well looky here, Ryan Bailey's biggest fan pops up.
Never before in the field of competitive sport has so much been won, by just 1 player, who has been so undeserving of the medals.

How many Grand Finals has he won?

LLS wasn't introduced until 2004. Those saying you can't count LLS. Why? It's probably the hardest trophy to win!

| If his injury had been picked up then I doubt his form would have dropped and he may still be at Leeds. Wire always seem to do well with injuries, with only picking up the really serious ones from time to time. Our fitness/nutritional/medical staff seem to be absolute grade 1 people.

You can't count it along side winning the CC or GF, it was only added as a marketing tool so they could talk about 'the race for the top' before the playoffs started, teams obviously want to finish as high as they can but would still rest players before (and possibly after) the cup final, because winning the shield isn't that important
If every team played every team once home and once away, and the league leaders were deemed SL champions (as occurred in the first 2 years) then you could count it but could not count the old 'premiership' which was basically a bunch of post season friendlies

| 2012 GF, Warrington on the attack late in the game, Ratchford has the ball and is looking to exploit an overlap, looks up and to his absolute horror he finds that most of the Warrington players are behind there own tryline having been wound up quite brilliantly by a certain R Bailey.
Classic Bailey.

You talk about it like it was a brilliant bit of skill and a crucial contribution.
Reality - any player who does a bit of pushing after the ball has gone will likely cause a reaction from the opposition player and if there's some flailing arms between 2 players off the ball more players will inevitably run in. The game at that point had already gone so it was entirely inconsequential but for the comedy value.
It's about the only noteworthy contribution I can remember from Bailey, in all his 7 grand finals with us.

Meh,
Take your pleasure where you find it I 'spose.
For every Catalan tackle bust and 40m break and a sublime offload or the now ledgendary hit on Mary Sits-on-the-loo vs saints, he gave you the blown try in the Warrington CC final or his attempted nutting of sean long vs Hull.
All in all, he was a very sucessfull player while at Leeds, spoiled by a terrible attitude mainly in part to TMFMISL tag which frankly was the biggest wind up of rival fans (and home fans) since Ritchie Spedding. Great teams are held together by such "characters" or panto villians and Baley played that to a T.

| The Catalan moment was good, also remember some good games from Bailey that year, was that when he played mostly LF?
All in all he was a decent player who on occasion could be so much more (which was frustrating). Rated by his peers and coaches, it's a shame he left the way he did, and if he had got his injury sorted he could well have still been here, as he's at least as God as Galloway imo.

Yes it was 2012 when he was selected to start at LF around a dozen times or so including all the playoff games and he played very well in that role IMO. Like Clarkson the year before and Singleton last year, the LF was mostly there just to do defensive work without making many carries which were left to the starting props, which suited Bailey to a tee as his defence was always usually good.
Whilst people only really remember the Myler incident from the 2012 GF, Bailey had a good game throughout.

| Bailey always had that 'spoiler' element to him, his job mainly to put the opposition off, look at the famous Graham incident in which he lost all focus and just kept hunting Bailey.
His game was always to put others off theirs while at the same time putting good shifts in defence and like above, not being dominated in the tackle helping get a fast ptb.
He's nothing special but he's not rubbish either, you don't play in the team's he's played in winning the trophies he's won if you're rubbish.

| Interesting to hear that from a wire fan. When he was signed some people on your forum seriously compared Bailey unfavourably to the disgusting thug that was Les Boyd.

| I never wanted him there, I thought he would be a bad apple, I was worried about him being a disruptive influence, and after the Cas/KR stint thought he was finished, truth is he had an undiagnosed injury that 3 separate medical teams hadn't picked up.
He's just cracked on with his job, I guess you can't fault that.

| The point is Bailey has been hysterically criticised by opposition fans for years, on the evidence of a few very minor on-field incidents and some rumoured off-field antics. Somebody suggested that the OTT reaction might have had something to do with race, and TBH when I read some of the absolute horse manure on the wire board (and elsewhere) about Bailey it was very hard to think otherwise.
The comparisons with Boyd got my goat because he only played for Warrington because he was effectively banned out of the game in Oz for being a genuinely malicious thug. Bailey hasn't come close to what Boyd deliberately did to Darryl Brohman or Billy Johnstone - on or off the field.
