But but youngsters are not ready, they will get a game when everyone rested and games close together. No really.
Seriously though, especially in the case of Tindall this week, why have they been overlooked now for the squad for weekend? I know he won’t play, but why is Luke Briscoe ahead of Tindall in the squad for Saturday. The experience of squad selection would have been good for him, especially after putting in the performance.

Maybe trying to keep him from getting ahead of himself. These lads need to go back now and work hard to improve. Be interesting to see what the club does going forward now. I really hope we see 1 or 2 play in a much stronger line up and not be left to the next time weve a 3 game week.
The club and the youngsters should have learned a lot on Wed and that has to put to good use.
If im honest in the back of my mind i always wondered if Walters would be tough enough, he proved he is big time. Never doubted hes got the talent and skills for it. He needs a game surrounded by a stronger pack now which will benefit him even more.
Tindall was fantastic i agree.
The club now should know now they can trust these kids and wont be let down at all.

Completely agree, there’s an opportunity there to reward Tindall and challenge Briscoe getting the best out of both of them. As you say even just for the position of a squad place.

I think Agar said something in his presser about it showed that some of the lads are ready and it could influence his squad choices going forward (I'm totally paraphrasing as I can't quite remember how he phrased it)
For me Tindall looked totally ready physically to get more game time, I would also like to see him in the squad most weeks even if he doesn't play every week.
There were a few others that looked a bit light to me, Corey Hall especially but they are very young so they will fill out naturally.
Tindall, Muizz, Walters, Oconner and Harrison are the ones that I would like to see more of this yer.

| Tindall definitely on the cusp of replacing L Briscoe on one wing agreed. Second row is harder when we have first grade players available, but hopefully those lads will get their opportunity in the "full" side at some point.
I don't think anyone who played big minutes against Cats was going to play against Wigan too.
I'd like to see some of the young lads we didn't see against Catalans play this year too - even if it's for spells. Hope Walker pulls up alright, going to be interesting who gets selected at FB for Wigan.

Yet we d!cked around bringing in Evans Tnompson Ferres & Harrison whilst Luke Briscoe gets games as well.
When our 1sr choice 17 isnt available or we rotate these young lads deserve the shirts more than any journy man or has been.
Hopefully the penny has dropped & Sinfield remembers exactly whst worked when he & the Golden generation got their chances at 1st Team RL.

Arguably that's exactly what he is doing, there were quite a few seasoned 'journey men' in the teams when they came through.

| Ah, Chris Feather - almost in the same bracket as Karl Pryce for unfulfilled physical potential!
Sinfield is absolutely about developing the youth. The journeyman-type signings that have been made have been top bracket in professionalism if not ability - he is trying to instil work ethos into the new generation; these signings on the whole have been an investment in the youth still.
His challenge is to replicate the Goldens but in a new way, because we can't look back.
Real shame the Reserves has gone before it got started, it was really good timing for us with the stage of squad development we had. I think we can trust the club to bring the youth through in the right ways; not all the journeymen have made an impact on prospects for young lads, and if they have (Donaldson?) it's probably on merit. In fact quite a few senior & journeymen players are leaving at the end of this season and you'd think the youth will absolutely fill that gap. Most still do need to improve physically for regular SL of course - they all clearly know the pathway is open and are chomping at the bit, and good on them and the club.

| I think we also have to bear in mind how talented the core group of the ‘golden generation’ were its unlikely we’ll see a group that talented all come through at the same time, we have been very lucky to have witnesses it

You seriously think Dunneman, Vowles, Adamson, Connolly were journeymen? These were top top signings, nothing close to a semi retired Ferres, Thompson, or Evans.

I think they were signings that were moaned about at the time for the same reasons people are moaning about those players you mention blocking the path of youngsters, which was the point of the discussion.
Fact is Ferres and Evans won't even play a handful of games this year and the other point is in this season if we have to play a team like we did on Wednesday players like Ferres, Thompson and Evans will actually help the youngsters.

You seriously must not have been around at the time. I never ever heard once anyone complain at those signings when made. Absolutely the opposite. You would be right at moaning by some on their effect at the end, but absolute fabrication to say they were moaned about on signing.

I was around Gotcha and there was moaning, I am not aiming that at you, I'm sure you were the beacon of positivity at all those signings, but I distinctly remember signings like Dunemann and Connolly being met with derision. And I can remember Adamson being called a glorified 'cheerleader' by some supporters.
My whole point is we are not in some unprecedented times where the youth are being totally 'blocked' by other signings it's always been pretty much like it is now in the modern era.
We have actually got a fairly young starting 17.
We won't agree so its a pointless discussion to be fair.

I am sorry but you are wrong, and fabricating a tale.
Connolly was a shock of a signing at the time, absolute quality.
Adamson was called a glorified cheerleader, and by quite a few old posters on here, but absolutely none when the signing was made. Very much at the end.
Dunneman was Halifax best player at the time. I am sure some might have said we could make a bigger signing. But nobody was moaning. He was a far better signing at that time for instance, than us signing Lui.
From 2000 we had a plan to introduce and when the youngsters, and no one was blocked by true journeymen from 2002. There is no similarity. We have made some poor recruitment decisions these last few years.

Gotcha, bloody hell, other people have had different experiences, back in the early noughties I used to go with a fair few people to the games including some that moaned about the signings, and I remember some on Southstander moaning but I am not talking about this forum exclusively.
You also seem to be insinuating I thought those signings were bad, I didn't, but to claim they were universally met with praise is as you put it fabricating a tale.
We have made some poor recruitment decisions throughout my time in watching the Rhinos/Leeds RLFC, it happens.
We have a plan to introduce the youngsters now, it's just that as always you think you know better than the club.
Anyway I'm signing off from this thread now - I can't be d anymore, have a good weekend.
