Don’t be daft – that would mean that they would have to employ a fair and transparent system set against a set of measurable criteria.
That’d never happen.

| Ahhhh forgive my ignorance! How could I have thought that the RFL would employ such sensibilities
They should have a blind monkey throw a dart at team names. Who ever it hits is in!
Also have a live 64 week x-factor style television program so the public can choose the monkey!

| I suppose you can count Carl Grigg, although wasn't he born in Morley but raised in Australia?
Darren Stevens, there's a blast from the past - hooker IIRC?
Is the year in which we had the least number of imports also the one with the greatest quality per player?

I'll have a look the next time I fire up the desktop.
When I did the list I was just reading across a season by season appearance spreadsheet. It's possible I've missed someone or imagined they were from this country.
Edit: Corrected now, thanks.

| I seem to remember Grigg was some kind of faux-aussie as well. Ah, Mark Wilkes. IIRC played one game for us, home to barrow when they were the worst team by a long way and we scraped a 9-7 win or something similar, in what at the time was probably the lowest quality game I'd ever seen from both sides. Vaguely remember Stevens too.

The night the Carnegie stand was opened.
What a great coach Cullen must have been to turn that Warrington team around and overcome arriving at the ground late for the play off fixture.

| Quote ="tvoc"As flagged up earlier in the thread (Page 12) Burrow now needs one try to become the first Leeds player of the SL Era to score 100 tries and more than 100 goals in the SL Regular Rounds.
Currently he has:
Played 152 + 61 (+ 1 NPS) Tries 99, Goals 102, Drop Goals 2, Points 602
That will complete his hat trick of firsts for Leeds (in the SL Era) of passing the 100 tries and 100 goals in All Comps, in all SL matches Inc Play Offs, in SL Regular Rounds.'"
And last night he finally reached the mark of 100 tries in the SL Regular Rounds.
He's the fourth Leeds player to do so
1 - Keith Senior 136
2 - Danny McGuire 135
3 - Francis Cummins 111
4 - Rob Burrow 100
__________
Kevin Sinfield has now kicked 997 goals for Leeds in all comps. The total is made up of 978 place kicks + 19 drop goals.
He is poised to become only the second Leeds player to pass 1,000 goals for the club.
The first, of course, being the legendary Lewis Jones who finished his Headingley career with a total of 1,244

| Darn Ryan Hall grabbing a bunch of tries - I was all set to ask tvoc when was the last season Leeds went without a player scoring more than 2 tries in any game. I suspect a long time ago.
Doesn't McGuire's 'failure' to score in such a high scoring game mean that his contirbution was close to zero? According to many opposition fans he's just a support player, so if he fails to score a single try in that kind of game he needs to get booted out of the side.

It was during the Super League 1 season of 1996.
It would have been 1997 but for a solitary hat-trick from a very unusual source.
