Yes
Tomkins showed in the CC semi that he was equally incapable of coping with Leeds bombs

| I'm a big Sinfield fan, but to deny Tomkins M.O.S. this year is disrespectful to both him and the players from ALL the teams who voted.

Sam Tomkins is an eye catching player. Sadly(for some), his team has won not a lot compared with what Leeds RLFC has won. Leeds RLFC has an inspirational captain.

Sam Tomkins has a Challenge Cup Winners Medal, and is still only 23 years of age.
Just to reiterate the point.
Leeds were deserved winners tonight just as Tomkins was deserved winner of M.O.S.

| I remember hearng an interview with Kevin back in 1999 when he had just broken into the 1st team on a regular basis. I remember being struck with his professional attitude for a 19 year old, down to the point of him not drinking.
This especially struck me as I used to go drinking around Hull marina around that time and used to always see the Hull and Rovers players out supping in their team polo shirts trying to impress the local girls. I often thought they could learn a thing or two from Sinfield.
Over the years he's proven to be an inspirational leader, always leading from the front as well as a master tactician and the best all round kicker in the game. He's been instrumental in everyting Leeds have done over the past 12 years and in my own opinion is certainly the most influential player of the modern era and stands up alongside the likes of Andy Gregory, Shaun Edwards, Peter Sterling and Andrew Johns as one of the best players I have ever been lucky enough to watch from the stands.
The lack of an MOS award over the years is a complete joke if you ask me and as someone earlier opined I think it is probably because he's been consistently brilliant over the years so has not attracted the attention that some of the other players who've had one off great seasons.
When he eventually hangs up his boots I think we'll look back and see that we've been privileged to have watched one of the all time great players.

Personally thought he was better in 2011 than 2012. Playing well against Hull KR isn't a benchmark for me. Playing well in a GF playoff series seems beyond him for some reason

You must have missed his match winning try and break for Gleesons try in the 2010 final, or his superb performance in the game at Headingley that year.

Do you really believe the result would be the same if the players voted tomorrow?
I have no problems with players voting on MoS but the timing of the vote devalues the award since it fails to take into account the fact that the best players come to the for when it matters

Indeed, apologies Rogues. He was in fact better in 2010 than 2011. Bit of a trend here

Yes, because unlike yourself, the players probably vote for the best player across the whole season and not the previous 5 weeks.

| All these posts about whether Tomkins should have won this years MOS miss the point.
The question isn't why KS didn't win the MOS this year. It's why he hasn't won a MOS award over the 10 years he's consistently been the best player in Super League.
Whilst in some individual years the odd player may have had a stellar season, there surely must at some point in the last 10 years when the players thought KS had played well enough even to get a nomination (which he has never had).
Surely even the Wigan fans arguing for Tomkins on here must agree with that?

I'm not sure that you'll find [uany[/u Leeds fan that agrees. JP is a machine and steps up when it matters but Sinny is the heartbeat of our side.
Also, I think you're sidestepping the question of whether Tomkins would win if the vote was post GF

| Someone has just pointed this out to me on twitter and it has changed my opinion in a way
Yes, Sinfield does deserve recognition but at the same time, he is part of team who are outstanding and the form in the last decade is unreal.
Individual praise or trophies?
I think the silverwear for me

Just to clarify,
As I was present the MOS awards, no one votes for the shortlist of three, that is chosen by the RFL,
I spoke to Sam and a lot of other players, and a lot of them were bemused with the result as the vast majority had voted for Benny Westwood, even Sam had.
The process needs to be a lot more transparent, I am not accusing the RFL of fixing the result as any of the three would IMO be worthy winners, but while the counting is done behind closed doors there will always be questions asked.

| 2004 should have been won by Diskin or McGuire.
Sinfield had a shout in 2005.
Peacock should have run graham close in 2007/8??? But probably was just 2nd best.
Other than that I can't really Make a case for a Leeds player to win man of steel.
Player of decade however would be contested by Leeds players alone, probably finishing: Sinfield, Peacock, Burrow, Senior, McGuire

| I don't think Sir Kev is too fussed who wins the M.O.S he's more concerned about team achievements and.
We all know how good he is ,what a great leader of men he is and what a legend of our club he is also the lads he plays with all know how much of a special player/leader he is and that's all that counts.

This sums it up for me. Also, the reason we are successful is we are a team and although we have great players we aren't so reliant on any one. We have match winners all across our team.

Quite right.
MoS is an irrelevant award these days, quite apart from the fact that its not awarded in the context of its original conception anyway (a career-long achievement of consistent high performance), its secretly voted for from a secretly selected very short list, its like the awards that people give each other in show business, five minutes worth of conversation and then forget it.
people will talk about this Leeds team's achievements over the past ten years far longer than they will who won MoS for any of those years.
...and I'd be quite disappointed in Kevin Sinfield if he accepted any honorary award from the state or the RFL.
