But it’s not been good publicity for the club really (nor bad) making it seem like we might be Furner’s 2nd choice?
I think it’s more likely it was created by Souths or one of the clubs involved in the coaching merry-go-round to push one of the coaches involved to sign up.

This is the vital question and one I'm not sure I know the answer. The thought of being coaches by another forward doesn't fill me with much excitement at this stage but Furner was a decent footballer so hopefully we have some set plays and structure to us.
We simply to have runners around Watkins and Hurrell with the aim of putting them into space 1 on 1 with a defender.

Souths aren’t too shabby; his test will be working some magic with less able players. I could probably coach GI and look good.
He will like a tough team (corroborated by the type of signings we’ve been linked with).

Everyone would like to watch an entertaining free flowing team that win trophies. Both Mac and Waney produced the goods over a period of time with their clubs but both get slated for producing one dimensional rugby. Give them credit for winning the silverware over the years.
If Leeds are contesting finals over the next 3 years people will forgive the employed style.

| The point stands. Yes,winning was good but it led to another year of postponing replacements in players and coach.
It was obvious to everyone but BMD and GH that at the end of 2015 we were coming to a huge rebuilding phase and should start it asap.
Instead they continued with poorer replacements, low spending and extensions for ageing players.
How many times since 2015 have we been in the bottom half and fighting near relegation? Two out of three?

| I read in an article about Bennett signing with South's that Furner was their plan B if Bennett didn't sign, but Furner put them on the spot needing an answer last week.
He's coming over here with his son, but his wife and girls are staying in Sydney, hence why he would have taken the South's job if offered - and given those circumstances, I don't see how anyone could begrudge him doing that.
I know he'll be super committed whilst he's here, but it's clear to me, he'll be back in Aus ASAP

Well, to be honest if we get a year or two out of him while we have time to line up someone else, he’ll still do a job. I’m sure he’ll be straight with Leeds if he needs to go back to Aus.

| I don't think there is too much to worry about. Furner been out of a top NRL job for 5 years so why would he suddenly be inundated with offers all of a sudden now? If he works miracles with us over the next 2 years then yes, i'm sure they will be chasing him hard and that's to be expected whoever comes over from OZ.

He’s coming with his son in November, and apparently the rest of the family arrive early December, or that is what social media seem to think.

| I'm sure Souths talked to Furner as Plan B. Rather than Furner not being wanted, I wonder how enticing it would be as an offer - one year deal, new coach to replace you already locked in. I can't see anything other than downside risk for him there.

That would have been a no win situation.
I really can't see why Brisbane and Souths don't make the switch now, with it being out in the open.i can't see either side doing anything but marking time in 2019 with both clubs knowing change is coming.

I posted the same thoughts previously Biff,I would fully expect that this swap will be announced for 2019 as soon as Bennett is back in Oz after the test series
If they don't and keep their present coaches next season, then more fools them IMO
