It's not like he's played a handful of games are people are saying he won't make it. I, like many others, were excited to see him develop but injuries and bad luck have halted his progress. Even when he's had a run in the team, there hasn't been enough sign to think he's on his way back. I'm happy for someone to tell me different. People are struggling to see where he'll fit into this squad (let alone team). I think we would prefer to see him move on, have a fresh start and hopefully achieve some of that potential.

| The other consideration for me is that Myler is 32 and Hardaker is coming up 31.
2 years and we need a new FB.
It's a loan deal, so gives Walker the opportunity to get some game time, get some fitness and show what he can do.
He might not come back to Leeds, but it's a good opportunity for him and being a loan deal means the door is not necessarily closed yet.

| Quote ="ArthurClues"If Hardaker stays, and that is not confirmed, I don't see a way for Jack to play regularly at Leeds. He's a straight full back and I don't think he offers much utility value. But then again, wouldn't he always be second fiddle to a fit Connor?'"
Connor wants to play in the halves which would be best all round.
If Walker gets back to anything like the player he was then he is a better full back than Connor imo.
Is he a long way from that currently though?

| It’s the business we are in isn’t it, Jack has always appeared exhilarating, brave and at times so dangerous, he’s young with a recurring injury record, as an away supporter who always thought he was excellent, so if it suits the player, your new coach, and our club then we will happily take him in.
As an aside, it’s really alarming how many young starlets from all teams are getting so many injuries, Newman, Dodd, Walker, Cator, and Walker, a lot more to add to that list, our game is so fast and athletic it make me wonder if we are asking these lads to perform far to early, regardless of their talent. the physical demands on players now is punishing.

Plenty of older players with wrotten injury records too….
Watched a video of Leeds preparing for the game. One thing that struck me was how unbalanced the modern day player looks. They are massive in upper body , but very limited flexibility. Then legs are often quite spindly and having to cope with all that bulk from up top. Most of them look like injuries waiting to happen to me….

Yes there's legs in that for sure. Depends if we can keep him and balance the salary cap whilst sorting the pack out. It just might not be possible to do so..

| Needs to be playing regular super league games, an odd few games here or there in the championship / reserves and us isnt going to cut it.
He'll get thrown in at Hull and will, due to injuries be straight to the coalface then we'll see if hes going to make it or not.
Good luck to him I say.

It'll be for the greater good and a necessary evil if if means bringing someone in, in a position of greater value to the team at the minute, ie a quality prop.

I fear less. Some bodies/joints/bones just can't cope with the game at this level

The Brent Webb physique. You can understand the amount of injuries when you consider the size, strength and speed of players now. The question is how you negate some of that

| Rugby League live just mentioned that Hull FC have a option to sign Jack Walker at the end of the season if loan deal goes well. Interesting times at both sides.

| It’s a real shame injuries have hampered his development, he looked like a real star in the making when he broke through.
There’s still a very good player in there but he’s currently third in the pecking order so maybe a move is the best thing for him, he seems like a really nice guy snd he deserves a bit of luck on thr injury front.
I hope he goes well for FC, we simply can’t keep all the players in a salary capped sport

Both potentially have 4-5 years left in them 30-31-32 is not old for full time pro’s nowadays. Walker is potentially forced to retire in 2 years through persistent injuries.
Alot can happen in two years, i’d take the here and now and Walker us 3rd choice and cannot play other positions.

So in other words we don’t want him, Hull are cautious as he’s damaged goods so equivalent of a 3 month warranty on a well used car.

| Well he’s still under contract with us beyond this season, so you’d think if we are going to allow him to sign full time with Hull that it would be on our terms? Shall we suggest a swap deal for Satae
