You have just named two fullbacks, a position which now seems to have blistering pace as a prerequisite in the NRL. There are plenty of wingers in the NRL who are doing very well whilst not having much pace. Hall is about as quick as Fergason and probably quicker than Oates (both who have recently played Origin btw), and it looks like he will be replacing one or the other.

| Good luck to him. We've lost our best winger, 2nd rower and prop with this announcement.
Ryan Hall has been superb for Leeds and I wish him all the best.

| He should go down as one of greatest wingers of all time, a tremendous player. He'll be great in that Roosters side.

| At the Roosters he'd be a direct replacement for Ferguson, who's a major asset for the Roosters in getting yards at the start of sets and just making tough runs when needed. I hope he goes well, but he may have left it a bit late.

You mean the same Corey Oats that recently said he needs to be playing in the back row, where his pace is better suited?

| Gotcha - Oates wants to play back row but everyone else wants him to stay on the wing. Over a distance I'd say Oates is probably quicker than Hall nowadays - he's no slouch at all once he gets moving. I think Hall should go well in the NRL though because they'll value what he brings and use it - strong start to sets and ability to finish in the corner.
Sadly we very rarely see wingers run great distances to score any more because fullbacks and cover defences are just too quick and well trained to get back. Holmes' Origin try was an intercept as was Trbojevic's. I haven't seen the stats but I'd be surprised if the vast majority of wingers tries in the NRL aren't scored from 10m or less.

But he won't really get as much chance with that strong start to sets asset. The last tackle option in most of the NRL sides is far superior to what we contend with in Super League. If they are closer to him, he is too slow to build up steam to make an impact on the metres. More worrying is his ability under high kicks in defence.
We will see, but I just think he won't be able to do it in that comp, not on the wing. Burgess was much more suited, and he ended up back quickly. Can you image Hall up against the likes of Josh Addo Carr, James Roberts, Gela Mosby, he would be burned away.

I'm struggling to understand why you don't think he'll hold his own in the NRL. Like others have said, he's shown on the international stage that he isn't out of his depth against the Aussies and Kiwis. And he's hardly going to be sitting out training and not working on his game. If they think he has a weakness under the high ball, I personally think he's pretty good, he's in the best place to get that training.

I suppose the starting position would be to answer your post is that I am looking at Ryan Hall in the present. You, by your post, and I assume others, are looking at Ryal Hall of previous years. And again I did say It was my opinion. But I will be surprised if he plays out a full season in the NRL, on the Wing.

The Ryan Hall who was exceptional in the recent world cup and the recent test?
I Know its the done thing on here to deride any player who plays for us but Ryan Hall has been a world class winger for the majority of his career and he still is, he will go well in the NRL.

I haven't in any way derided him, so unsure where you read that from. I have been specific on why I think it will not work for him in the NRL.

My derision point was more a general view of the forum.
But anyway we don't even know if he is going there yet, didn't someone mention he got a big offer from a RU side? he could be weighing up his options that's why he hasn't announced anything as yet?

What absolute bobbins....
If anything, he'd get more of a run up in the NRL as the defences are better during the sets, meaning there are more clearing kicks as the attacking team do not progress as far up field. And in all honesty, Hall doesn't make his most valuable meters directly from the kick return, he makes them on tackle 2 or 3 when he's taking a hit up.
Yes there are some speedster who'd do him for pace, but as long as he doesn't offer them the outside, it won't be problem. And if he does get burned every now and then by an out and out speedster, that's only the same as every other winger who'll come up against them.
He's still one of the world's best wingers, and the strengths in his game are not really impacted by his age or current physical abilities - perceived lack of speed isn't an issue now, hasn't been an issue at international level and I dare so won't be an issue in the NRL.

Got to agree ,he seems to have adapted his game through out his career? As such I'd be surprised if RU aren't taking a peek which may suit Hall; big money/longer career/same hemisphere and 'new challenge'

| I am a massive Hall fan and I am genuinely excited to see him in the NRL. Class act, who has suffered due to Sinfield retiring and Moon playing inside him with his try scoring. Still phenomenal clearing his lines. Genuinely can't think of another winger i'd have over him and if played to more would score more trys than he currently is too

| Big loss, another top draw player leaves. we will miss his carries and try scoring.
Hope he goes Well in NRL or Union. If Corey Thompson can go well down under I'm sure Hall can. He is not as quick as many but he is as powerful as any and is as good a finisher as I've ever seen.
Thanks for the memories Ryan, we will always have Huddersfield.

| I'm sorry to see him go, but I wish him well, in what ever he does next. He has been superb for us and leaves us with some great moments of brilliance to look back on. But I hope we are going to see some quality signings, Lord knows we really need them. We seem to be going backwards at the moment and we could do with some good encouraging news.
