I agree and in my opinion that seems the most likely scenario. I can't see it being anything to do with the stadium. If anything a press conference regarding the stadium would be in conjunction with Yorkshire Cricket rather than Yorkshire Carnegie.
Quote ="The Ghost of '99"Quote ="Andy Gilder"Arguably the appointment of a Director of Rugby overseeing the running of both clubs simultaneously would be a pretty ground-breaking announcement.'" Hetherington does that role effectively for the Rhinos at the moment - might he be retiring?
But again the question is - what benefit is there for Leeds in sharing a DOR with a second division union club and forcing a coaching upheaval for no clear reason?'"
I'd imagine it's more a case of Hetherington taking a step back from the rugby side but still very much CEO and in charge of both clubs rather than retiring. Thats if it's what we think it is, of course.
Off the top of my head I'd think the biggest benefit we'd see would be a sharing of u19's players. There's already been a bit of that going on but I'd imagine there'd be more of it. If we get a couple more like Walters from it then hey ho. As long as we still have a full time head coach at the Rhinos I can't see too many negatives to it.

| Mac moving 'upstairs' with a new Aussie coach coming sounds really good to me. I just hope we could then also get a proper assistant coach as well, it would be a novel idea

It's Kevin Sinfield. That's just a feeling I've got. He's finished as a top level SL player and knows it himself. Out of total respect, the club would have been waiting for him to decide when he felt he could no longer cut it.
It could also explain why JP is leaving. No influential position available for both.

| A joint statement of great significance to both teams would suggest either a new big sponsor/owner or a move to a new ground. Juggling with joint coaching positions is not really major stuff. Something that would make big news would be a major dual code signing who could play for both sides.

| Well I'm up at 6.30 so radio Leeds will be straight on ,but I am not too excited about it because it could be one of GH's publicity things .It would take a considerable amount of money to take Yorkshire Carnegie up to the top level and be successful too.

That would be big news but not amongst "the most significant in the history of the club".
As I said earlier, anything major to do with the stadium would have been impossible to keep secret.
We'll see...I remember Hudds fans (I think it was Hudds, might have been another club) going spare a couple of years ago when their board hyped up an epoch-defining announcement and it turned out to be a price-freeze or something.

The Leeds web site states "one of the most significant in the history of both teams" (not clubs) as I said. So would indicate perhaps something dual code. Maybe a dual code coach or some coaching academy

| I wouldn't get too caught up in GH's wording of "one of the most significant in the clubs history".
Let's not forget he always starts the season referring to the squad as the "best squad we've had".
I think it will be A significant announcement, imo it will be the McDermott moving 'upstairs' rumour.....however I'm not sure we'll hear who will be the replacement for him just yet.

| YCC don't want to lose space when they rebuild the North Stand so Southstand has to be moved further back so both stands must be built simultaneously ? That's another rumour, but if that's the case why aren't YCC in attendance? Don't let us down Gary

| My 50p is on the joint D.O.R/Dual Acadamy set up.
Fwiw though we've effectively had the 2 Acadamy set ups running side by side anyway with players exchanging between the 2 but having 1 D.O.R is quite a big deal imo.

| We're signing a young prop with promise from Carnegie as a 'project' who after a few years of loan spells at Hunslet and Fev it is hoped he'll eventually develop into the long term replacement for JP.

| Please let if be McDermott moving upstairs. I like the bloke, therefore wouldn't like to see him sacked as Leeds coach. However, even with Leeds showing improvement this year, he is still holding the squad back from its pull potential. McDermott moving as director of Rugby for both clubs and Furner and/or Dunneman as head/assistant coach would be insanely good news.

| Yes, this ageing, declining squad is achieving nowhere near its full potential. This is entirely down to the coach, and in no way due to the players who are sticking robotically to his game plan rather than playing what is in front of them each week.
Deary me.
