From an England perspective, good news in that it means both Myler and Ratchford will have to start playing like half backs instead of just following Trent Waterhouse around looking for offloads.

As good as Lee Briers was and as big as a fan I am of him, Lee Briers wasnt doing What Myler is doing at his age.

Cast your mind backs to our last Wembley Meeting when Myler raced through a gap supported Chris hills break and running at full pace put an inch perfect kick for Joel Monas to score our first try it was world Class half back play, aged 22

Cast your minds back further on the Eve of a Challenge cup final for saints Briers Was dropped...he then handed in a transfer request out of dissapointment. Richie Myler at a similar age was dropped for the 2010 challenge cup final..... he didnt spit his dummy out and took the decision well according to Tony Smith

Give Briers plenty of plaudits... or not.... depending on your views but its most unfair and wrong to criticise Richie Myler in the same Breath.

Myler is maturing very well and turning into a very good player....no doubt due to playing alongside Lee Briers

I don't care about the support play. If Myler or any other young halfback wants to be good they need to be able to pass, control a set of 6 and have a good kicking game. We're far too forgiving on young halfbacks who never develop the core skills, and far too excited by halfbacks with speed.

I also agree with DHM - there was a time when every club seemingly had a 7 who was a scheming, mouthy little sod. The fun was you could hate everyone else's but love your own. Now those that act as a good halfback should - i.e. cocky and absolutely full of themselves - are forwned upon. Despite his petulance with respect to England, its one thing I like about Brough.

The refs will wonder why that strange whining noise has gone from their earpieces.

I imagine this thread would look a whole lot different had Tony Smith not got hold of him. A player with unboubted ability but for most of his career lacked the temprament, and consistancy to make the most of that ability. He's been a tremendous player for the last few years and one of the few half backs with the complete skill set required of a halfback, so for that reason especially he will be missed.

Please don't comment on me, it's unnerving.
