| Buderes wouldn't be the first legendary Australian to play for Wakefield. There was also that guy Welly Loowis back in the 80's.

| Can't envisage a class player like Buderus ever signing for a club like Wakefield.
Players like Richard Moore and Darrell Griffin are more their level.

Given the predictable degree of patronising contributions from the usual suspects, it seemed apposite to indicate that Leeds new signings for 2012 are both Wakey rejects. Sign of the times I guess.

This is probably how the Wakefield fans like to remember the great man's brief guest stint over here -
while the Leeds fans are left to recall his monumental dummy spit at the officials after the mini brawl that followed Lindsay Gill clobbering Steve Martin late -
that ended with Peter Massey kindly pointing out to the legend where the dressing rooms were situated at Headingley -
Lewis vowed never to return to the club game in the UK after that incident.

Indeed I even remember 3 or 4 of the great Leeds side of the late 60's early 70's being part of a GB team that won the Ashes - Hynes, Shoebottom, Atkinson, Ramsey?

I was there. I can't remember too many times when I've laughed more. In Australia he seemed to be able to ref the games he played in, I'm surprised he never went on to do it officially.

He always reminded me of that character on the front of those MAD magazines. Barry Seabourne and Andy Gregory both got pushed to the back of the queue when they issued the boat races

You've got to have sympathy for his son Pete who has clearly inherited his dads good looks, although Pete is a slightly chubbier version

I met him a couple of times while he was at Leeds and a nicer bloke you'd be hard pushed to find.
Surprising that he doesn't seem to mention Wakefield at all in this interview - must have slipped his mind I guess.

Don't know if our video works for you, but right hand side of page at this link you can see Bedsy and the boys running the hills in King Edward Park above Newcastle Beach - pretty much in the middle of Newcastle.

Great photo.
I feel privelleged to have seen those two wingers that complemented each other so well ......but wish I could have also seen Hynes and Shoebottom in their playing days. My late father constantly raved about them...nearly as much as he did about Lewis Jones.
