| Quote ="AdmiralHanson"That has the worry of the Lee Crooks signing ....
Buying someone who was the best player available in his position, but who couldn't stand the sight of blue & amber and who wanted to go back to his beloved Humberside within seconds of getting to Leeds.
It it is true that Westerman is coming, he's going to have to swallow a bitter pill to come play for Leeds or has his quest for honours in the game got the better of him ? In other words, stay at the club he loves and win nowt or have to stand having to play for the team he hates, but with the best chance in Yorkshire of winning stuff on a regular basis.'"
Yup.

He's very good at that, but as most sides attack to their left the RHS second row has to do a lot of defending, and despite (or because of) Westerman's high tackle counts, I'm not sure he's up to that if he isn't the featured attacker getting protection in defence.'"
=#8040FFThat's strange, Westerman seems to be doing 25-30 tackles a game now, certainly not a weak defender
He won't be going to Leeds either, maybe Hull FC, a team he actually wants to play for. Along with Richard Owen to Huddersfield and Shenton to Wigan....Cas are going the quick way to losing their fans and place in SL.

If they cannot fund a new ground they will lose their Super League licence anyway.

No player in the game hates a club sufficiently to stop them playing for them. You only have to look at Andy Lynch for that, a Leeds fan who went to Cas, and then ended up at Bulls who as a fan diskliked very much.
'"
Whilst I'd like to think you could be correct the answer to the question "Would player xxx hate a club enough not to sign a lucrative contract with them ?" has to be "Yes".
These are professional rugby players we are talking about, not always the sharpest knives in the cutlery drawer, some of them young and unencumbered by life's trivialities such as a mortgage, a family to provide for, the council tax to pay next week - the sort of stuff that makes 95% of the rest of us HAVE to go to work on Monday regardless of whether or not we like the company.
Mix in the fecklessness of a young man who isn't yet mature enough to see beyond his teenage years "loyalty" to one or other team (see lots of users of these forums for more examples) and yes, I can see a player deciding to not sign for a particular team "because he doesn't like them".
There was once upon a time a very good player who looked after his own interests and constantly sought the best deal for himself and his family's future, was not afraid to ask for more money, went out and sought his own lucrative sponsorship deals (OK so he got someone else to do all of that for him) - but he was vilified and still is by many on this forum, Iestyn Harris didn't give a flying one who he played for as long as the money was there at the end of the week and legal claims aside he should have provided nicely for himself by now.

| We haven’t even played every team in super league yet and we’re already talking about next seasons signings. It’ll be a good signing but not earth shattering.
Next time you post a rumour post one worth posting
Greg Inglis to replace Keith Senior would be a good one

| I would love to see him at Leeds but wouldn't have a clue where to play him. Looking at the youngsters we have coming through I haven't seen any natural successors to Sinfield so maybe he could be his replacement for the future. But what to do with him now is a bit confusing. Centre?
I had heard from a few sources that Westerman is getting hacked off at Cas. I heard it was around his contract and that the general consensus of a few Cas players is that the club is not doing enough to secure the clubs future in SL in terms of the new stadium. On the other had, with the contract talk is it just a bartering tool to get what he wants, what with utilising the hatred of Leeds by Cas

Good logic that, must be why players run at Nathan Hindmarsh 40+ times per game then. He's rubbish at tackling.

Well I could point to his missed tackle stats on Superleague.co.uk, they're pretty harsh.
If my memory was any good I'd remember who the other coach, other than Justin Marshall, was who was seen on Boot 'n' all giving a team talk and gameplan of "whenever Westerman is in the middle, run at him"

Which is why missed tackles is sometimes more use.
High tackle counts typically mean one of two things: hard working defender, or a target for the opposition.
The number of tackles Westerman misses would suggest the latter.

No, it was something along the lines of missed tackles and breaks.
Cullen has picked it out on Boots 'n' All too in the analysis section. Still trying to think who that other active coach was.
