| Think people saying we have problems in attack are a little premature.
Clarkey said last night that on average Stome only conceded 10-12 points a game last season. We got that, got over the line a couple of other times, and created a few other decent positions.
The problem for me was that the slow PTB really stopped us getting any moentum. I doubt we will ever face a PTB as slow as that again this season

You're right of course. One poster even suggested Watkins should be given an extended run in the place of Donald after one performance at one stage last season.
No doubt if they had Watkins would have gobbled up those chances last night.

| I would gladly eat my words, i'm not trolling and the two ex- players (not both half backs sorry) i mentioned both rate burrow for what he was good at, niether are at all bitter. his creative game has not developed and his sharp bursts and elusiveness have gone, I always want Leeds to win, hence the frustration when a player does not deliver. i've had the season tickets, the shirts etc, but have never worn the blue & amber tinted specs.

Then he would be wrong if he did indeed say that. In the regular rounds they conceded at an average of 14.5 If you include the play offs it comes down slightly to an average of 14.3
By way of comparison Leeds conceded 16.78 on average in 2009 which also reduced slightly to 16.37 when you include the play offs.
Interestingly both Leeds and Melbourne conceded 38 points in their 3 play off fixtures last season although Melbourne outscored Leeds on attack by 103 to 89.
Last night's result was all very predictable.

| As a team, we really do struggle in attack if we are not getting a quick play the ball, and that isnt just this year. That is a slight worry, as all of the games we have played this year, the opposition line speed has been great. My opinion is that we are standing a little too flat, and our runners (Eastwood apart), seem to be taking the ball stood still. As a result we're not winning the colliision. This was the same last night (although Silverwood was too lenient with Melbourne in my opinion), and the same in all 4 league games, particularly Salford, Cas and Crusaders.
We play well when our forwards are getting a roll on and we can then attack a team on the back foot. I do think we lack runners and set plays. I see teams like Hull KR, Huddersfield and Saints putting on great passing moves and do look on a little envious (only at these moves, certainly not their current trophy cabinet), as we dont seem to have these moves to fall back on when we cant get a roll on, we do also seem to struggle to break teams down once we get in their twenty, this is when our lack of creativity/set moves stands out the most. Having said that, we have won 3 titles on the bounce with our current tactics, so they cant exactly be questioned, however there is always room for improvement.
As for Burrow, give him the runners and he will look a lot better. At the moment, due to the flat attack and lack of go forward, he isnt getting the space to create. He went forward much more last night which is a positive, he just needs runners off him to either put through the gap, or at least take a defender away from him allowing him room to take the defender on more successfully.
All my opinion, and all probably the reason I dont get paid to play/coach. Although I am a world beater from the side lines!

mcguire is our most creative player and the stand off with most try assists last season in sl(including play offs) so it shows you know nothing about him really. It was me who said without orford Bradford are fooked, you look pretty fooked with him to be honest. Leeds have 4 pivots in the line, mcguire, sini, burrow and Webb. 6 if you include buderus and disco. you really know nothing about Leeds creative options do you?

I don't watch Leeds regularly so I clearly don't know what you do about your team but it looks to me as though Sinfield is the player for you who takes control and without him you don't have the organisation and no one else seems to have those skills. My original point was about Burrow not seeming to have developed those skills and I don't think Mcguire has either regardless of the other qualities they may possess.

What did Watkins do in the preceding seven weeks that doesn't isolate the Huddersfield game as an effective one off performance?

Donald's form on the right wing as compared to Watkins one off performance on the left wing?
Yet Donald went on to score nine tries in the following nine games in eight appearances so you'd have discarded him for a spell just as his try scoring form picked up and he's never looked back since.

Quite possibly, though whats' to say how Watkins might have performed once Smith grew into the role of right centre for those final eight or nine games? Still, I certainly wouldn't have been silly enough to discard him completely, like some were advocating.

TBF i was saying the same and thought it harsh on Watkins when Hall returned from the England squad and he was put back in the acadamy.
All this was to do with Donalds form/confidence at the time and reflected as such imo.
The fact he turned it around was great for him,the team and all us supporters but it still didn't nullify the views i held prior to that imo.

Well said.
TVOC is trying to deflect attention from those posters who said they wished the club had not retained Donald by bringing up a discussion from mid season last year about who should be selected on form, on the wing, for the following match when Donald had shown such a lack of form and Watkins put in such a stellar display.
lesser posters will probably fall for it.

So you signalled you wanted him to re-sign for 2010 by trying to replace him for an extended period mid season with a rising Academy starlet. I'd imagine your support for Donald was overwhelming at that time. No wonder he decided to stay.
I'd have suggested similar to you except I'd have done it in the close season after Donald's 2009 contract had expired in favour of one of the promising Leeds Academy prospects.
That said although I wouldn't have retained him, once Leeds did for 2010 then he would continue to be one of my starting wingers, particularly given a quality centre beside him, unless injury dictated otherwise.
Anyone calling for his release from an existing contract would be premature.
