| you will go a long way to find a faster play than schofield in his prime! Electric he was! but G has a good shout with fordy! Seeing him run down Offiah at HQ is a great childhood memory of mine!
ET must also get a mention too

Especially over the first 30 yards. His pace off the mark was phenominal! Up there with Jason Robinson.

| He may not have been right good, but Eddie Rombo was pretty rapid.
Sterling or Calderwood were probably the fastest I can remember.

| Quote ="thebloodbath"Fallon was no slouch, but will be no-where near the likes of Offiah, Iro (in his day), Sterling etc.
However for a big guy he could shift. Pure muscle and locks.
So pro rata, pound for pound, he could be up there!!!!!!'"
I always had the feeling that Fallon lacked confidence in his own pace - he never seemed to take anyone on the outside (even when Sir Innes gave him the opportunity) and yet in defence he was capable of chasing down pretty much every winger he faced.
Oh and I'd say that Calderwood is probably the fasted in a straight line. Ford (other than when chasing down Offiah) was a touch slower but far more a elusive ("he's a stepper"icon_wink.gif. I'd place Sterling somewhere between the two - quicker than Ford. Donald would probably be forth*
Rivett was probably the quickest off the mark and over 30 meters or so.
*Disclaimer: I'm too young to have seen ET, Rombo etc

2003, Reardons' tackle on Mcguire at Headingley was very impressive. No way did I expect anyone to catch him.

| Leakin' Deakin? The ponytail express?
Not much cop, I'm afraid. Best known for letting in some of Offiah's ten tries at Central Park (although I blame Ford more).

I remember that well.
I loved Phil Ford.
Tvoc may be able to help out but I bet he made more sideways metres than anyone in the history of the game

| I've been watching Leeds since the late 60's and I'd probably go with David Smith who signed from Wakefield Trinity IIRC. John Atkinson was no slouch either.
Slowest Leeds winger I've seen would be flying Andy Smith circa.1984 ?
couldnt catch the ball or run fast with it !

I didn't think he lacked confidence with his pace.
He was just raw power and speed. With the line in sight he knew where he needed to be.
See CC semi against Fev at Elland Road.
Also displayed some good fighting skills in that game, some neat punches against Nadalia (what was his name!!)
Also Bradford in old playoffs at HQ - picked off an interception - raw speed and focus.
Looking at his union career he was fleixble and big enough to fit into a few positions besides wing.

Exactly the same two names as came into my mind.
Now Andy Smith, he was something different

| Back in the 80s I remember Richard Pratt playing a few games at full back / winger - nothing particularly great about him skill wise, but do sem to remember him being quite quick??
ET may not have been the quickest player at Leeds, but my memories of him are so good that he may as well have been
I only ever saw Rombo really get to pin his ears back once - think it was at Wheldon Road when he scored from about 60-70 yards out? I saw enough to suggest he was very, very quick - shame about the rest of his game though!

| John Basnett. Lightning over the first yard, if he didn't drop the ball. Yards two to twenty were more of a problem.
