| For crying out loud Leeds would be in the top three in the NRL. Its just that we don’t have to play to such a standard in super league that’s required in the NRL. This Leeds Rhinos team is even better than the England squad that we’ll have out on Saturday!

Sorry I thought Bye weeks had gone out of the window since it became a 16 team comp.

Have they? Always thought it was a bit bizarre that they gave competition points for not having a match.

| Quote ="leicester_rhino"They can't its true, although I would guess that they could after a season or so, like Catalans.
However, Leeds & Saints can generally turn up and win in 2nd gear for many games in SL, and the likes of Salford have to be on their best to hope to win one of these games, and combined with the other team not playing so well.
When Salford raise a game its not the the same level as Leeds or Saints raise their game, and therefore I think they'd struggle to get any results'" And yet these Leeds and Saints players couldn't raise their game for a World Cup.
I understand what you're saying and you may be right but I feel that the Leeds players would have to up their intensity to GF level just to match the mid table NRL teams and I couldn't see them doing that on a consistent basis.

Having looked I think your right but the clubs don't appear to have a break for the internationals with NZ nor the SOO.
TBH my point was comparing Leeds with other SL teams and suggesting that they had more recovery time than other SL teams and therefore should have been able to maintain higher intensity but even with thes breaks they didn't seem to manage it. I will concede however that they also concentrated the early weeks of the season on a high intensity WCC.

I'm not saying leeds would be great, just that they would get a few wins, and finish mid-table.
I was more arguing about Salford being able to hack it in the NRL, which is as daft as your average Damo vidoe

| if you look at what leeds players might do well in the nrl then its fair to say we'd adapt pretty well
webb, smith, senior, hall, mcguire, burrow, buderus, peacock, lautiitii and sinfield would hold their own most weeks while others like burgess, jjb and kirke might very well improve with playing against better players
our reserves and youth teams might very well get a few hammerings but i'd expect them to be better a few years down the line for it all

| I suspect Mr Langer was being diplomatic...he's hardly going to say in response to a direct question
"No way would this team cut it in the NRL you Leeds based losers"
Would Leeds do well in the NRL? Well they would certainly be playing fewer games but I think the travelling would do them in

Gus would have! Anyway all this NRL high intensity all year round is bull. Just look at the tables, some teams are just poor all season.

Wow, what an insightful post.
In any league there will always be teams that prop up the bottom.
But the teams at the bottom of the nrl are considerably better than the teams at the bottom of super league and they also play at a much higher level week in week out and still get beat.

Not really.
He could have said ''with respect to leeds, they wouldn't be adjusted to week in week out demands of the nrl and wouldn't make the playoffs''.
That would be being diplomatic while telling it like it is.

That's codswallop.
I'm getting a little tired of all this sycophancy about the NRL and people dribbling over how amazing it is.
It's better than SL but this comment is just pure bollox.
Kylie Leuluai, with a fair amount of NRL experience, said that this year's SL GF was "probably the toughest game" he'd "ever played in".
Brent Webb said a similar thing and he's played in an NRL GF.
Leeds wouldn't be dominant in the NRL as they are in SL, but keep things in perspective, please.

Less so for Leeds than their opponents coming to Headingley. Leeds would go 'on tour' and play blocks of fixtures, perhaps a month at a time.
There again why am I even wasting any time thinking about it.
